Passed away peacefully at home at the age of 100, bathed in the love of her family, with a song in her heart and her little dog Tiger on her lap.
Born to Allan and Eva (nee Brooks) Roney, in Georgetown, Ontario, she grew up through the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II. Ev met the love of her life at a dance right after the war, a handsome naval officer from Toronto named Lorne Morgan; they married in 1947 and continued dancing together for forty years. They had three children: Lorelyn (Barrie Wood) and the twins, Brooke (Bill Irvine) and Bob (Lesley Wright), who in time gave her five grandchildren: Sean, Charlyn, Maradyn, Cavell and John and a step-grandson, Cory. Her family was the world to her, and her world expanded with the addition of each treasured great-granddaughter: Olivia, Breda, Milanna, Lyla and Penelope. She was also blessed to still have a wonderful relationship with her sister Jean and niece Phyllis.
When she lost her beloved Lorne in 1987, Evelyn could never imagine having another partner, for dancing or for life, and lived independently, first in Peterborough, then in Haliburton, before coming to spend her final three years in Lakeport. She travelled with friends, received awards for her volunteer work and shared her many interests – bridge, line-dancing, various crafts - by teaching them to others. She enjoyed solving word puzzles and communicating with friends and family over her morning coffee: texting with grandchildren, checking her facebook and sharing amusing emails with a long list of recipients who looked forward to their morning smile from Ev. She was a formidable force of nature who taught us all how to live with love, resilience and generosity, and we will miss her greatly.
Special thanks to her PSWs in both Haliburton and Lakeport and to palliative nurse Cailin Turney for their tender care. Interment and private family service at Cobourg Union Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice in Evelyn’s name would be appreciated.

Ev was a pleasure to have known. Every week at the bridge club her smiling face was at table 1. Never a complaint just a laugh & maybe some talk about her beloved pet. What a joy he brought to her life. The building missed her as did the bridge club when she left Haliburton. Our sympathies to you . We are glad she got her final bucket list wish. She did not deserve to suffer through any painful illness.

I met Ev playing duplicate bridge in Haliburton. She always seemed serene and content with her life, always a pleasant smile on her face. I have enjoyed sharing emails with Ev for a few years and will miss thinking of her at the other end of my WiFi connection. So glad that she got her wish and went peacefully and without pain. May we all be that fortunate. Blessings to Ev as she joins the love of her life in the House of the Lord.
