Thinking of you all and remembering the good times we had together. My heartfelt condolences.❤️
I remember Fran Westington as Miss Winter, my school teacher at the Plainville School on the corner. Leighton would drive by the school and Fran would go out an talk to him. He was a tall, thin man when I knew him but I remember very well how much he was taken with Fran. I was about 10 years old. Sending my sincere sympathy to Fran and the family. I only just saw this obituary so sorry for the delay. Terry Stanworth

Tracy and family, sorry to hear of your dad’s passing, a true gentleman.
What a loss! A very gentle, friendly and loving man. For me, Leighton was a work colleague, a farming colleague and a friend. From the time we met, Leighton was willing to give of his time to help me. Whether at Borg Warner or on my tiny farm, I learned a great deal from Leighton, a very willing teacher. In addition, he and Fran were great friends. There were many nights that Fran and Leighton were part of a group that attended Northumberland Players' theatrical events. Often after the performance we were able to host at our home when we moved to Cobourg. Those were great times. Covid has taken a great deal away. Janie and I have not been able to travel to Northumberland and we have missed time with old friends. Fran and family, please accept our condolences on this great loss. Don and Janie
Fran, Vicky, Sue, Kelli, Tracie: Debby and I are very sorry to hear of Leighton’s passing. I will always have fond memories of working on the farm with Leighton and eating him out of house and home. He was always happy, friendly and easy to talk to. I remember hearing him play his tuba across the fields to our house! I remember him selling me a 5 gallon can of gas for only $2. He was the best of neighbours and a big part of our lives.

He was more than a cousin, a constant loving presence in my Lander family. Countless times we called on him and he was always there for us. If the afterlife calls for tinkering on tractors or just about anything mechanical, Raymond will welcome him with open arms.

The highlight of our day was his ritual of having toast & honey & sharing stories in your kitchen.
