Colin John Campbell

September 19, 1997 - January 9, 2023

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother, Colin, on Monday, January 9, 2023. Colin’s bright light was dimmed far too soon at the age of 25. Though there were many moments to come in his life that both Colin and his family looked forward to, we find comfort in the fact that he was loved by so many and had countless incredible experiences and passions.

Cherished son of Maureen (née Baker) and Bob Campbell, loving brother of Kennedy Campbell and a dear grandson, nephew and cousin.

Colin was raised in Aurora, attended Dalhousie University in Halifax and was recently accepted to the School of Fashion Design at Birmingham City University, UK. While fashion design was a more recent passion, Colin was always recognized for his creativity, especially his love of musical theatre and his many, many charismatic performances in York Region.

Colin was impacted by an acute and severe respiratory illness and despite putting up a tough fight he was unable to recover. Our sincere gratitude to Northumberland Hills Hospital Emergency team, the EMS paramedics, and the ICU team at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Your care, dedication and compassion were well beyond your duty and touched our hearts.

A Celebration of Colin’s life will be held at the Aurora Soccer Club on Saturday February 11, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at 510 Industrial Pkwy S, Aurora, ON L4G 6W8.

Deepest condolences. They say there is no greater pain- No loss that can compare... The torment when you lose a child- no human heart can bear. No one can just imagine... No one can comprehend~ Unless they lose their own child and, then ... They'll understand. You'll never really breath as strong~ Your heart will bear a scar... No words can speak the sorrow, And it changes 'who' you are. ~by Diane Ranker Rieser

I met Colin in Grade 10. At the time I had a lot of health issues. I wasn't at school much and when I was, I wasn't the happiest person out there. But from the day we met, Colin tried his absolute hardest to reach out to me. At the end of that year, my family pulled me out of school. I didn't see him, or most people really, until I came back for prom. I was pretty nervous about seeing everyone again and... well, at first, it didn't go so well. I was about to leave and forget the whole thing. That's when Colin walked in. He was so happy to see me. He told me he saw my name on the guest list and specifically asked if I could be seated next to him, just so I felt welcomed. He anticipated how awkward a situation that would be, and went out of his way to help me... it blew me away. It was such an act of kindness. The fact that he could touch the heart of a person who was trying to keep everyone at arm's length is a testament to how special he was. I am so glad that someone like him was so loved. And I'm so sorry that someone who shined so brightly is gone so soon. My love and condolences go out to his family and friends.

Thank you Maureen and Bob for bringing such a unique, incredibly kind, and hilarious human into this world. From the day we met in Grade 9 at AHS Colin became one of my best and most cherished friends. So many of my favourite memories in highschool and beyond involved Colin. He had the best sense of humour. He wore his heart on his sleeve. I’m so grateful for the countless conversations, dances, and belly laughs shared. Colin was a connector and brought so many people together. I’ll never forget the times just hanging out in your basement, to driving around town blasting music with new licenses, to prom, to concerts, times at the cottage, I could go on. Sending love, strength and light to your family. I love you so much Coco - Char

We are fairly recent members of the West Northumberland curling club. We had the wonderful opportunity and pleasure of meeting Colin last year (2021/2022) at the club where he was our favorite bar tender! We looked forward to seeing him weekly where he always served up drinks with a huge smile and good humor! He even used to go out of his way to make Sue's hot chocolate and deliver it personally to her table! We got to know him on a bit of a personal level and thought very highly of him. His gentle manner and kind soul shone through. We were devastated to hear the news of his passing and send you our deepest condolences.

I’m positive his light will continue to shine down on us all. I will always treasure the laughs & moments we shared together. I hope you find peace in knowing how loved he was. Sending you loads of love and strength during this period. <3
