Avril Elizabeth Lowes

Just heard about Avril's passing. I am so sorry. I knew her through the theatre at Northumberland Mall. She was such a wonderful person. Always so supportive of the movie experience in Cobourg whether the commercial films or the special events. My sincere sympathy to her family.

Dear Graham and Michelle Dennis and I were so sad when Diane told us of your mum's passing. Avril was lovely lady and will be sadly missed by so many people. Avril was one of the first friends we made in Canada when we first visited 30 years ago. Since then we looked forward to having lovely lunches with her and calling in at the cinema for a chat. Avril was a wonderful woman who helped so many. She worked for 3 operators of the Mall Cinema, the last one being Rainbow. She could be counted on to instruct new owners or supervisors in what would work in Cobourg and what wouldn't. She always knew the supervisors or owners would leave soon and she would have to keep things running herself! I always looked forward to my visits with Avril. Avril, thank you for all you did.

We have known Avril for many years as firstly she was a client of mine but for many more years she sold tickets and managed the Mall Cinema. We always enjoyed our very cheerful interactions and especially since I had worked for a number of years with her cousin Walter in Toronto. She was ALWAYS polite, friendly and had a Wonderful smile and positive attitude. My brother and I (and our parents Kathy and David) want to express our sincere condolences to you both. We're very sorry to hear of her passing. We've grown up knowing your Mom as "Mrs. Avril at the movie theatre" since we're about five and six years old respectively (and we're now young adults). We will always remember how kind and welcoming she was with us. She always had a smile and was genuinely interested in what we were doing at school and why we wanted to see the movie we'd chosen. She'll always have a special place in our hearts and live in the memories of our growing up years.

Many wonderful memories of Avril. Susie’s Kitchen was the lunch place. Her potato salad was amazing. Such a hard working lady & always smiling.
