It is with heavy hearts the family of Glenn Marian announce his passing after a very brief illness at the Northumberland Hills Hospital Friday, December 9, 2022, at the age of 61. Glenn passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his best friend, high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 40 years, Barbara Marian (nee: Winter). Glenn was an incredibly proud father to his greatest gifts, his sons: Adam and Clayton. Loved brother to Kelly (Dwight) Vorsteveld and Shelley (Ken) Carter. Son of the late Joseph and Barbara Marian.
Born in 1961 after two girls, Glenn was known affectionately by his parents as “The Boy.”
Even from a young age, Glenn was an avid sportsman. He and his dad spent many a frozen Saturday morning at the outdoor arena in Bewdley where Glenn played goalie for the home team.
He loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, especially Dave Keon. He loved the Leafs even long after there were no more Stanley Cups.
He met his future wife Barb in Grade 7 at Dale Road Public School, telling his lifelong best friend that he had just met the girl he was going to marry. He and Barb established a strong friendship over the next few years until she was old enough to date. He married his high school sweetheart and celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary early this year.
During their courtship, Glenn became involved in stock car racing at Westgate Motor Speedway near Peterborough. He drove the powder blue “33” car in the street stock division with members of his family serving as pit crew. There were many fun Saturday nights spent at the track together.
In the offseason, Saturdays were usually spent at his parent’s home playing some type of game – usually Canasta or Trivial Pursuit. He was always a fierce competitor and thoroughly enjoyed beating his mom’s team at any games that were played.
In the early 90’s, Glenn and Barb got involved in Taekwondo and opened their own dojangs in Colborne and then Cobourg. Glenn reached the rank of 6th Dan Black Belt.
He joined the men’s 5-pin bowling league at Northshore Lanes in Cobourg. He spent his winters bowling and his summers on the golf course.
Recently retired after owning his own pallet reclamation business, it was not uncommon for Glenn to be on the course on an almost daily basis. He could hit the ball a good distance, but as he got older, he concentrated on the strength of his game which was his putting. He told us on repeated occasions that he wanted his putter to be destroyed upon his death and we will honour his wishes.
He was so at home on the golf course, that he said he’d like some of his ashes to be scattered on the 8th hole at Warkworth under the trees because he’d spent so much time slicing over there that it felt like home to him.
We will come together for one last tee time to say goodbye to a good man who was the best of both his parents. He had the quick wit and sense of humour of his mom and the good heart and easy smile of his dad. He will be deeply missed by those of us left to grieve the loss of a husband, a father, an uncle, a cousin, and a beloved friend. Gone far too soon.
The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the staff of Northumberland Hills Hospital Emergency Unit especially nurses Amanda and Kathy. We thank you for your kindness, care, and compassion. A celebration of life will be held in honour of Glenn at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, Cobourg, Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 10:00 – 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Canadian Cancer Society.
Until the next putt, rest easy Glenn.
BARB, ADAM, CLAYTON - condolences. I am shocked and saddened to learn of Glenn's passing. I met Glenn as Watson Tidd's golf partner at Warkworth. The acquaintance grew to a friendship - Glenn was part of the Colborne Crew. Glenn always had the presence of mind and took the time to ask how my mother was doing - that's what made him special to me. I will miss seeing Glenn and his banter. May peace be with him, and with Barb and family. With the utmost of respect - Paul Irwin
Thanks Glenn for all the Myrtle Beach golf trip memories. Keep on driving brother ... you will be missed my friend.

Your family has always been such a big part of Kevin’s life, just as Clayton has been a big part of ours through music, and fun activities like the Red Hot Jazz band and Tae Kwan Do fundraising dinners. He will be so missed by all who knew him. Our hearts reach out to the entire family in this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss.
Heartfelt condolences to Barbara and family as well as Kelly and Shelley's families. Was a classmate of Glenn's from Dale Road School as well as the East High School. Glenn always impressed me with his easy going demeanor combined with a steadfast determination to accomplish any goal he set out to. Cherish the memories .
Wishing my condolence to Barb and the boys on hearing the news of Glenn's passing, absolutely blown away....when I think of Glenn . I think of his openness, smiles, laughs, support and friendship that he afforded me to be apart of....although I only knew Glenn for years the feeling was I met a friend for life! I myself am going through a jig saw puzzle of life, and Glenn was always around to offer support and raise my spirits, and share in Barb's exploits in the Tae Kwon Do world! or talking of how proud he was of his sons. I had recently dumped into Glenn after the towns remembrance day service and was able to shoot the shit with him, and having time to catch up with each other. He will be sadly missed!! take care!!
Barb, Adam & Clayton. Our hearts break for you in your time of loss. Lean on each other for support.
Glenn was a special brother-in-law to me, with a great sense of humour, and love for my boys, Paul, Frankie, and Kevin, as they grew. One of my favourite memories of him was at his and Barb's wedding. He looked my Dad, John, in the eyes and said "I will be your favourite son-in-law", as Klaus, Kees, and Mike were taller than they were! I am lucky to have many good memories of family times with him over many years. He now is with our parents, and ancestors--very good company. I will miss you, Glenn!
Dear Barb and family, I’m at a loss for words, may you all find strength needed at this difficult time, god bless Carla Timperley (Diamond)

Dearest Barb, Adam and Clayton I was so shocked today when I heard of Glenn's passing! My heart breaks for you! I feel blessed having known him and all the fun times we used to have. Glenn and Scott were like high-school kids laughing and giggling and throwing a ball around the house in their attempts to play hockey in the house! The eukre tournaments were always fun and our couples times together making food and visiting were always a great time. You both got involved in Tae Kwon do and somehow along the lines we lost touch with busy lives! Our kids used to bathe together! So many laughs. I loved Glenn like a brother and thought of you all as family! I can still see him and Scott crying laughing while he tried to finish that joke! So many fond memories. I am.sorry we lost touch and pray that the happy memories keep your heart warm! My deepest sincerest condolences. Please feel free to call if you need anything. Rest in Peace Glenn, we will meet again! Xoxo
When my family moved out to Rossmount in the ‘70s, the Marians were the people who became fast friends. I was always glad to hear how he grew into a great family man and friend. It’s very sad indeed that Glenn has left us but know that he was loved by many people. RIP pal.

Masters Barb, Adam, and Clayton, It is with a heavy heart I read of your husband, and the boys father passing. I could not believe this when I heard the news. I met Glenn as a taekwondo referee and right away enjoyed his sarcasm. A good man and as I always told him, he was my favourite polish friend! I am very sorry to Barb and the family, rest in peace.
I'm not sure we met, but art for arts' sake. Farewell friend.
Glenn was an ardent supporter and champion of Barb and sons Adam and Clayton. He wore his taekwondo “uniform” completely for them: so very, very proud of you all. He would slip across to the Colborne Chronicle newspaper office, aglow with your achievements: he wanted the wider world to know just how much you meant to him.
So sorry to hear of Master Glenn’s passing. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Master Barb and family.

I spent this past weekend reminising about my times with Glenn and Barbara after meeting them in 2005 through taekwondo. Glenn and I had some memorable experiences at tournaments, including when he coached me the last time I sparred that resulted in a visit to the hospital; he took a picture of my injury and proclaimed with a smile, that the large baseball lump on my injured foot was epic! We had many good times adter we both retired from taekwondo having stayed in touch and getting together as often as possible. To Barbara, Clayton and Adam our heart-felt condolences, we're here for you. Glenn, we will miss you. From your friend "blunt force instrument No. 2".
Very sorry to hear of Glen's passing. Cherish the memories.
