I had the good fortune (as a teacher-librarian) of working with Maureen Holloway at Churchill + Thomson Collegiate. Maureen was a gifted Family Studies teacher who devised new curriculum to engage her students in life long learning. She set high standards for her students and herself. Maureen was a dedicated, exemplary teacher + a very fine colleague. My sincere condolences to her family and friends for their heart felt loss. Maureen, you brought light to the teaching profession. All are better for that.
It is an honour to have been a colleague of Maureen’s at Winston Churchill C.I. I admired her love of family, travel experience and social conscience. Maureen brought an intellectual and innovative approach to her Family Studies classes and exemplified life with purpose. My deepest sympathy to Claire and Kate. You have some very special memories.
Maureen and I worked together in Family Studies at Winston Churchill C.I. My deepest condolences to the family at this very difficult time.
My deepest sympathy to both Claire and Kate. May you be strengthened by the rich legacy left by your mom and dad. They both sleep peacefully now.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom and grandmother. She lived a purposeful life with Garth and on a large canvass. I believe many people benefited from her talents and resilience. I sincerely admired the way she lived her life and have fond memories of knowing her during university co-op days. May she be at peace. Kindest wishes, Linda
I met Maureen for the first and only time when we worked for a number of months on an advisory committee to the board of Community Power Northumberland. Late one afternoon after everyone had left she showed, and explained to me, her peace garden. We had our differences as everyone on a good committee does but shared a belief in doing what we can to make a better future. She was a good person. My condolences to the family.

Condolences to all who knew her but most especially Maureen's family and friends. She was a stalwart of several book clubs. I knew her through the Northumberland Amnesty International book club and like to think that we became friends as a result. A caring, insightful and committed to a great many things and people person. I was able to spend to some non-book club time with her in the last few months. I will miss her travel tales and the chance to chat about her father, a former co-worker of mine. Hand-knits a great way to honour her memory.

My heart goes out to Maureen’s family. Along with Maureen and Garth, I served on the executive of the U of T Faculty of Education Student Union in 1973-4 After many years without contact, I had the pleasure of getting together with Maureen on several occasions in the last few years. Maureen was such a creative and talented woman. An avid crafter and artisan, an incredible cook and baker. She played a massive role in the Northumberland Players and was always willing to try a new task. She and Garth played active roles in the Northumberland Gogo Getters helping raise over $40,000 for the Stephen Lewis Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign. She sang in the Shout Sister choir and hosted many fun gatherings at their beautiful home. She adored her daughters and instilled such amazing core values in them which I know they will pass along to their children. Her family was so important to her. Her passing will be felt not only by her loving family and friends but by the community as a whole. Sending condolences to all her family.

I met Maureen way back at University of Guelph as we shared a love for Family Studies and it’s multidisciplinary nature. We amazingly reconnected in COBOURG and had many lovely and lively discussions at her beautiful home. She helped me get involved with Northumberland Players and coached me along the way. I wish we had reunited earlier but so grateful for the visits we had. With love.
Our Deepest condolences to you Claire and Kate and family. Maureen was a very talented woman. I loved her quilts and her cooking. The choir still talks about Indian night at her house. Maureen had great travel stories that I enjoyed listening to them. I am sorry for your loss.
