Passed away peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at the age of 95. Ruth Bevan (nee Longhurst) beloved wife of the late Frederick (Ted) Bevan. Loving mother to Linda, Ted (Marg), Sue (the late Kevin Brown), Paul (Mary) and Jody (Michele). Cherished grandmother of Bria (Jeff), Christopher (Mandy) Amanda (Jamie), the late Caleb (Melissa), Sarah (Josh), Sayward (Drew), Kaitlin (Jaimie), Kerry (Stoff), Lauren, Sarah, David, (Lyndsey). Great grandmother (Gigi) of Riley, Abby, Grace, Cooper, Mckenna, Shawn, Emmitt, Georgia, Bennett, Beau, Kylah, Henry, Abbey and Morgan. Predeceased by her parents Archie and Lulu Longhurst, brothers Stan, Archie, Fred, Harvey and Lorne. Ruth was a 60 year Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 133 Ladies Auxiliary and spent many hours helping with funeral teas and other functions. She enjoyed the friendship and comradeship playing Wednesday Night Ladies and Friday Night Mixed darts and until a few years ago was an avid 5 pin bowler. A private family service will be held Friday December 2, 2022 at MacCoubrey Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life at the Legion Br. 133 from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Ruth’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses, PSW’s, doctors and staff at the NHH Restorative Care Unit for their kindness and compassion during Mom’s stay.

We were very saddened to hear of Ruth's passing, and extend our condolences to all of her family. Ruth was a really nice lady with a good sense of humour (and a great baker), who will be missed by all who knew her.

We have been out of touch over many, many years now but I remember Aunt Ruth very well. My father, Stan, thought she was a great sister and spoke fondly of her in so many ways. Now in my 80th year myself, Aunt Ruth was the last living relative on both sides of my family. The world goes on as our generations vanish leaving many special and wonderful memories! Linda, Ted, Sue, Paul and Jody Growing up on Blake Street right across the street from the Bevan family was fun. It was always Mrs. Bevan. Then as we all got older and l joined the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and played darts I would still say Mrs. Bevan that's just how it was until your mom said Judy just call me Ruth. It took some getting used to but Ruth it was, a great lady with a heart of gold enjoyed her as a neighbor and learning the ropes from her in the kitchen at the Legion. Rest in Peace Ruth and look up those neighbors from 199 Blake St.
