It is with heavy hearts the family of John Scott Tollan announces his passing at the Northumberland Hills Hospital. John passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on November 15, 2022, at the age of 76. John was the devoted and beloved husband to Dianne Tollan (nee: Archer). Together, they shared 52 years of marriage. John was the proud father to his daughters Angela (Leonard McGrath) of Douglas, Ontario and Melissa (Chris Facciol) of Belize. He was the devoted and supportive grandfather of Daniel, Morgan (Riley), Katie, Emma, Jack McGrath, and Natalie Lowe. Pre-deceased by his parents, Daniel and Margaret Tollan (Nee: Cafferty), as well as his in-laws, Jack and Ada Archer. John is also pre-deceased by his brothers, Douglas Morrison and Gordon Tollan, and his son-in-law Andrew Lowe. He was born in Paisley, Scotland, and later immigrated to Canada. John enjoyed his career at Mathews Conveyor Company in Port Hope. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. Visitation will occur at MacCoubrey Funeral Home on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM, followed by a service at 2:30 PM, officiated by Reverend Jean Wilson. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Grafton, Ontario. Donations to the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank would be appreciated.

Our heartfelt condolences to Diane and family. Unfortunately, we were out of the country at the time of the funeral, or we most certainly would have traveled to Cobourg. Hugs to you all, Glenn and Dianne.

So sorry to hear about the sad news that John had passed away! I drove past your house every day on my way to work I would always see John sitting out on the front porch enjoying the warmth from the sun. I first met you both years ago when I worked at the Nissan dealership although you bought the Accord 😂 My family and I live on Lakeshore Drive if you ever need to chat we’re here for you!

So sorry for your loss. I never managed to meet John but as my Dads brother we only recently got aquatinted due to our mutual DNA match- a lucky chance for me. Although I knew John existed I had literally no real knowledge of that side of my family or where they were- I do now and wasn’t disappointed.
