Peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Vallom, an amazing mother to sons Craig Vallom ( the late Mariola), Chris Vallom (Sue) and daughter Laura Wilson (Michael). The best Nana ever to Liam, Summer, Riley and Trevor. Sylvia stayed curious her whole life. She never stopped being interested in current events which made her a wonderful conversationalist. She always asked questions and was genuinely interested in those she was speaking with. Sylvia and Stanley’s door was always open and many enjoyed their hospitality over the years. She loved to read, always enjoyed a good detective show, and was an avid gardener. Sylvia was also an adventurer, she enjoyed daily drives around the county side or boat rides up and down the St. Lawrence River, family trailer trips across Canada and the US and annual treks down south to Sanibel or up north to Golden Lake. In their later years Sylvia and Stanley traveled the globe visiting places such as India, Russia, Europe and China. Sylvia always kept an open mind and came back amazed by what she had experienced and learned. Most of all Sylvia loved to spend time with family and friends. Her enthusiasm, curiosity and kindness will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Sylvia on Saturday, November, 19th from 1-5pm at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St E. Cobourg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation or Park People.
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Sylvia and previous to that Stanley. I knew both of them when I was a teenager and friends with their daughter Laura. I remember her as being the brightest of spirits and full of laughter. I’m sorry, Laura, you must miss her so much. Sending you love and light.
