Dear Amy and Rebecca and siblings So sorry to hear about your dad I know you have lots of good memories of him Remember them xx Mae
When I first met John he said that I should call him Johnny. When I quickly realized that I was the only person calling him by that name the name still stuck. We were very close and talked about GOD and JESUS often. He truly did love the LORD. With his stroke he lost his ability to read and also he could not speak in full sentences. This would frustrate him greatly. With all this happening I would stand beside him in church and watch him sing the old hymns word for word! Many times I would walk into his house and see a DVD with a printed page from the book of Revelation on the TV. He would ask me to read it to him as he had trouble figuring out what the words were. He always wanted to hear about what GOD is doing and when discussing this he always said emphatically "one LORD ". Whenever he heard a sermon preached that he found to be really powerful he would get home and say " wow wow wow!" One day a pastor from the United States came to preach at the church and we found his preaching to be powerful. We simply left the back of the church and went home and discussed this. Two weeks later the pastor preached in Whitby and we went to hear him. Afterwards I took Johnny to meet him and the pastor looked at him from across the room and said " I remember you from 2 weeks ago!" Johnny was stunned and couldn't stop talking about it for 2 weeks! Johnny loved strawberry ice cream and often we would sneak out and eat ice cream while looking out over the lake. Many times from the car he would say "look " and point out a person that he knew from the pharmacy. He loved people and showed this everywhere he went. Every day that he could get out he went to visit Linda's grave. He missed her so. He's with her now. Rest in peace my friend.
John was a wonderful friend of ours and we came to know and love him dearly. We met him and the girls for lunch at the Scenery Drive Restaurant after church on Sundays and he always ordered the same breakfast. He had eggs, sausage, hash browns and mushy peas with lots of coffee. He would smother his sausage with ketchup and pepper his eggs. He loved his Tim Hortons coffee and called it nectar. He always got a large one with double milk and double sweetener. He loved to talk about rugby and his rugby playing days in Wigan. He was British to the end. He was extremely loyal and fiercely independent. We'll always miss him.
Our sincere condolences to all of John’s family. When ever I would ask him, how you doing, his response would always be “All Right” then that Big Smile. He will be surly missed. John & Sharon
I will always remember our Thursday night beer and darts with you Jeff and Paul. We will meet up sometime for another. Best wishes to all the family

To Matt, Richard, Amy and Rebecca, we are so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. John was such a lovely man. We hadn’t seen him for a long time, but when we did he always took the time to stop and ask after us and our boys. He always had a smile on his face, was never down, never complaining. We remember when you all lived down the road from us and when your Dad and Mom had the pharmacy. Such a great team, and they raised a lovely family. Ken & Dorothy Way.
