A LIFE WELL LIVED
Kim Ross Harvey – A father, husband, son, grandpa, and friend.
It’s with heavy hearts, the family announces that Kim passed away peacefully in his home overlooking Rice Lake from his favourite chair, laptop steady in his lap, with Ellie his new companion pup quiet at his feet on October 1, 2022, at the age of 68.
Best friend and husband of Shalley Reyns. Dearly loved Dad of Sarah Lalonde (Marc) and Shannon Harvey. A kind and gentle Grandpa to Olivia, Owen, Cali, Eddie, Jacob, Clara, and Callan. Kim will be deeply missed by Roberta Reyns (Russell Grant), Willie Reyns (Cheryl) and Trudy Stacey (Brian).
Predeceased by his parents John and Kathleen Harvey and brother Robert Holdaway. Brother of Kathy Brown (Charles), and Gordon Holdaway (Beth). Kim will be fondly remembered by the Carpanini, Campbell, Jones, Nelson, Pursey and Fisher families and many loving friends.
Kim was born, an old soul. He lived a full and simple life. He was a kind, loving man and a great listener who most enjoyed deep conversation one-on-one and provided great words of advice. It was comforting that he knew so much, yet let everyone else tell their story. Kim was an avid Maple Leaf’s fan, gardener, car enthusiast, and always loved his sunset cruises to the Cobourg Harbour with his cup of timmies to meet his friends. After retirement, Kim enjoyed travelling to Florida and many backroad country tours in his convertibles while antiquing and searching for his favourite sweet treats.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 1 – 4 p.m. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home. A formal greeting will be held from 1 - 2 p.m. A few memories will be shared at 2:30 p.m, followed by food and beverages. Please join us to raise a glass and toast to Kim and a life well lived.
In memory of Kim, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Cobourg (to support their Coats for Kids Campaign) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Shalley, It was so sad to read of Kim's passing. I was a classmate of Kim's throughout public school (Merwin Greer, Dale Road) and high school. Over the years since, whenever I ran into Kim, we took time to reminisce and catch up. Kim was always such a geniune and lovely person. Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family. Liz Mikel
Dear Shalley & family Like so many others I'm deeply saddened by the death of Kim. Please accept my condolences to you and your loved ones. I worked with Kim at The Midway Drive-In Theatre during the 70's - long time ago... He was the assistant manger and I managed the canteen. He was great to work for and with- always fair, cared about the staff and customers and blushed easily. We wished him well as he moved on to his new career path at McDonald's but was greatly missed. There is only one Kim and a pleasure to have known him and all his accomplishments and kindness toward others. It was so nice to see you both at Mark's Greenhouse this past season. It's a great memory to have. Sorry I was unable attend his Celebration of Life. With sincere sympathy Sandra Bell-Buttars

So sorry to hear the passing of Kim. We only knew hin for a short time, but in that short time, we had great conversations. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Here is a message I love: Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and always dear.
I just learned of Kim's passing tonight and was shocked and deeply saddened by the news. Kim, Rod and myself, fondly nicknamed the three amigos, became good friends at the inception of the first ever Coats for Kids Campaign. I will miss him and the monthly lunches we three shared together over 27 years. My deepest sympathy for Shallay, his daughters and grandchildren and everyone who knew and deeply loved and appreciated him. Gone but not forgotten! To the Harvey Family, Please accept my sincere condolence. Kim was definitely a man who stood out from the crowd. Always friendly, cheerful, and welcoming... in a genuine and real, impactful way. Everything written below about his character is absolutely true. While very humble, he had a way of making everyone around him feel better. Beautiful qualities that you and all his friends will remember with a smile forever! RIP Kim Terry

To Sahlley, Sarah and Shannon: I was truly saddened to hear of Kim's passing. We have been friends since high school. I always enjoyed a visit with him whether it be over a coffee at Mcdonalds, at a poker game or while sharing a cigar while manning the gates at the Port Hope Fair. He had all the news of the community and seemed to know everyone. He was a kind and humble person. I remember him telling me the story of how he checked himself in at the emergency ward at the Cobourg Hospital a few years ago when he was having a heart attack. Always one to never put himself ahead of others, he stated to the desk clerk 'Look I know people tell you this just to get to the head of the line, but I think I am having a heart attack'. What a guy!!
Shalley: I am so sorry for your loss; he’s gone way too soon, but the world needs an extra special angel. God bless you all.
I first met Kim when visiting Cobourg with his uncle, Doug Jones. I remember the antique cars, the way Kim talked about his girls. A gentle generous man. My thoughts go to Shalley and family. Rest In Peace

Sarah and Shannon - I'm so sad for you both at this time. Two of the happiest days of your dad's life were March 19, 1985 and October 1, 1987, the dates you were born. I will never forget the glow on his face when he first saw you. He was also so very proud of the beautiful, independent women that you have become. You will not only have my support, but I know you will have the support of his family and friends through your journey without him. Your precious memories of him will always be with you. Love Mom xo
Dear Shalley, It is with great sadness that I hear of Kim’s sudden passing. It was a big shock. My memories of Kim start from a young age visiting his mom and dad and the many times we stayed there. "My condolences" doesn't seem to say enough sometimes. Shalley I am very sorry for the loss of your best friend. Just a little story about Kim. When he worked in Whitby every so often I would drop by for a cup of Timmies and ask if Kim was working. If he was there he would take the time to sit down and have a conversation with me. He didn't have to do that as I knew he was busy with work but he did. I will always remember that little bit of kindness. He was a very special man.
Shalley, Kathy, Gord and the Harvey family. My condolences on the passing of Kim. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word.
Our Thoughts & Prayers are with all of you. Hold on to all your memories. Share all of them with each other. Laugh & Love

Kim was the best “2nd Dad or Dad-Bud”as I called him growing up with my Best Buddyo Shannon, I’ll miss him so much. So many happy memories of him from my childhood, from VIP McDonalds birthday parties, to Sunday drives in the Model T. And he always brought back a pile of chocolate bars from his Hershey Pennsylvania trips. Rest In Peace Dad-Bud, love you!

Mark and Cheryl Woods
I am so sorry and saddened to hear of your loss Shalley and family. I have known Kim for 45 years! He hired me at 15 years old at Cobourg McDonalds. I worked again for Kim years later as a Manager where I got to know him at a different level. He was such a wonderful boss, so fair and always so kind hearted. He was a great inspiration to us all at McDonalds. You truly will be missed! RIP Kim.
It was such a shock hearing that Kim, a wonderful, caring, good man was gone. When I drove in, or by, the McDonald's parking lot and saw Kim's car, I knew all was well inside. The crew, hundreds, over the years, absolutely loved and trusted him. He was great at parties, always a conversationalist, virtually on any topic. I loved seeing him light up the occasional cigar and sit back and relax. When he announced he was going to leave McDonald's I said, you way over exceeded anything I could ever imagine, or expect of, as a Manager. He was happy with his new employer and I am glad he had some retirement time. Shalley, so sorry for your loss. Sarah and Shannon, I know it's a heartbreaker, my condolences and those of Ryan, Kristin and Judi. I can't think of a finer man.
