John James "Jack" Gifford

June 25, 1934 - August 9, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John (Jack) James Gifford on August 9, 2022. Jack was married to the love of his life, the late Jean Hay, for 62 years. Together they travelled, fished, camped and cheered on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Canadian Curling Teams and Formula One Racing Teams. Jack also had a passion for hunting, gardening and boat racing. Jack retired from Ontario Hydro (Toronto Lab) and moved to Belleville in 1989. Jack always enjoyed telling his many stories of projects he worked on and the close friends he made. The late Edward and Agnes Gifford welcomed Jack into the family on June 25, 1934. Jack is the brother of the late Hector Gifford (the late Barb), the late Terrence Gifford (Joy), Barbara Stringer (the late Ralph) and Nancy Boyden (the late John). Jack was the Brother-in-law to the late Doris Simpson (the late Gilbert) and (John Cotton). Uncle Jack will be dearly missed by his Nephews and Nieces – Ed, Leslie (Leo). Kim (Curtis), Byron (Pauline), Steven (Helen), Tracy (late Doug), Mitchell (Kristina), Hilary (Gary), Louise, Robert (Vanna), Grant (Elsa), Dennis, Deb (Sandy), Jackie (Kerry), Trevor (Patty), as well as many Great Nieces and Nephews and Great Great Nieces and Nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside interment in Colborne Union Cemetery on Sunday August 21st, 2022 at 11:30 am, followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, Colborne. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Wheels of Hope (Cheques made payable to the Canadian Cancer Society) or Belleville General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
