Anne Doherty

January 13, 1953 - August 7, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Anne Doherty at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on August 7th, 2022, at the age of 69. Anne passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Anne is the loved and cherished sister to Eleanor, Liam, Margarita, Patricia, Eamonn, and Fiona. Pre-deceased by her parents Edward and Margaret Doherty. Anne faced many adversities in her life. In 1978 a car accident left her permanently disabled and in recent years she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. But through all the challenges life handed her, Anne faced and conquered every battle. She was the strongest and most underestimated member of her family for what she went through. Anne was a shopaholic and loved to spend her time listening to her favourite music. Anne’s infectious laugh and smile could light up any room. This resilient, bubbly and loved woman has now joined the angels. A visitation will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home Saturday, August 13th, 2022, from 10:00 -11:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00AM. For those that won’t be able to attend the service in person, a livestream will be available at www.maccoubrey.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Breast Cancer Society of Canada.

We were all devastated to hear the news of our Auntie Anne’s passing. We are comforted with our happy memories of the time we spent with her as we grew up. We think back fondly of our younger years when Auntie Anne would spoil us with her selection of chocolate and sweets, playing jigsaw puzzles, solving word searches and singing and dancing to the radio together. We are deeply sorry for the family’s loss of a Sister and Auntie. Love Danielle, Aliyah and Zinedine xxx

Ian Macdonald - August 12, 2022

I was so sorry to hear of Anne's death. With my colleague June Wyper who retired recently, I have had the privilege of looking after Anne's finances in Scotland for the last 30 years and it has been a pleasure to deal with her and Eleanor and see the care and concern which Eleanor gave so willingly for Anne. I still remember fondly the day Anne came into our office in Glasgow to show off the medal which she had won at the Special Olympics - a red letter day!

Denise Skelton - August 11, 2022

To my beautiful Sister Anne, every day is a struggle without you, you left me too soon, my heart is broken. I will forever be grateful to have spent 13 years with you everyday and every night. You were my sunshine and my best friend. To see your smile and see you laugh made me so proud of you and all that you have accomplished in your life. When I sing our favourite song, “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…..” I will remember we enjoyed singing it together. Anne my life will never be the same without you. God Bless you until we meet again.

I have only known Anne for a short while and only had the pleasure of speaking with her a couple of times. Her laugh absolutely infectious and always smiling. A very sweet lady. My deepest sympathies to her family and especially her wonderful sister and caregiver Eleanor, who could not do enough for Anne, also a wonderful lady. Heaven shall be an even better place with Anne in it. Sincerely Dianne(neighbour)

Corey - August 10, 2022

Eleanor Oh how heavy my heart is right now. Even though I have only just got to know your sister and yourself, I can honestly say that I am the lucky one. To have known Anne is to know and understand just how special she was. For all that Anne has endured in her life , she was such a positive happy lady. And for you to take responsibility of looking after her pretty much your while adult life tells anyone that you are one special lady yourself. The staff at Topcuts will miss Anne tremendously, but hopes that we can share all the memories with you when we see you again. Love and admiration to you and your family. Corey and Staff
