Elizabeth Ann Dobney

January 31, 1951 - April 29, 2022

Surrounded by her family, on Friday, April 29th, Liz passed away at the age of 71.
Beloved partner of 29 years to Allan Reid.
Liz will be deeply missed by her daughters Krista Robillard (Marvin) and Deanne (Didi) Dobney (Mark).
Much loved Gramma to Dylan Ainsworth (Courtney), McKenna Ainsworth (Robb), Justine Ferguson (Jordan), Daymon Ferguson (Charlotte) and Quincy Robillard,
Devoted Great Gramma to Hayden, Bentley, Braxton and Hastings.
Liz was the 2nd of 4 daughters born to the late Norman and Daphne Cant and was pre-deceased by her big sister, Marilyn Cleary.
Liz will be missed dreadfully by her younger sisters Linda Sutherland (Glenn) and Caroline Cant (Arthur).
Beloved Aunt to Paul Cleary, Melissa Cleary (Rich), Jordan Dussault and Samuel Dussault.
Liz will be missed by her Uncle Dave and Cousin Michele and family here in Canada as well as Auntie Pat and her Australian cousins and her cousins in England.
Liz was blessed with step-daughters Lisa Reid (Brian) and Karen Tennant (Bryan).
She will be missed by step-grandchildren Claira Jeffery (Jamal), Olivia Varcoe (Andrew), James Varcoe (Savannah), Brayden Tennant, Nathen Tennant and Megan Tennant and step-great grandchildren Reya and Zuri Jeffery.
As the families grieve her sudden loss they remember Liz as a devoted partner and loving Mum, Gramma, Great Gramma, Sister and Aunt.
Liz loved old folks and little kids, watching the grandkids sporting events, the Blue Jays and Sid the Kid. She enjoyed gardening and a good murder mystery novel. Liz hated math (particularly fractions and solving for x), green beans and saddle shoes.
Lizzy was always put together and favoured bold prints and big jewelry but was equally comfortable lounging by the camp fire in her Muskoka dinner jacket.
Liz loved Christmas and graciously hosted the Cant and Reid family Christmas gatherings each year.
Liz will be missed by the friends she made during her years working at the Golden Plough Lodge as well as those made on beach party vacations and camping with Allan.
Feisty and fierce, loving and compassionate, Liz will be missed terribly.
Her family asks you to take a moment in the coming days to raise a Mike’s Hard Lemonade, a margarita, a cup of tea or your beverage of choice and give thanks for the time we shared with Liz.
At Liz’s request there will not be a funeral service but fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.maccoubrey.com for the Cant-Reid families. Donations in Liz’s memory to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated by the family.

“Cry not because she is gone. Smile because she was here.”

Sad news that Liz passed away. Jacqui was one of her Australian cousins and we did not meet Liz until about 10 years ago. We were lucky enough to stay in Canada for about 9 months in 2018 and got to know Liz and Al. Liz was a generous, kind and fun lady who went out of he way to make us feel welcome. We were lucky enough to have experienced one of her Cant Family Christmas gatherings. Deepest sympathies to Al and family at this sad time. The Dawson Family In Australia.

My sister Pam and I always considered the Can't girls to be as close as sister to us. Our mom Joan Watkins was best friends with Liz's mom, our Aunty Daph.
