It is with heavy hearts the family of Doris Ayres (nee: Ward) announce her passing Monday, April 18, 2022, at the age of 82. Doris passed peacefully at the Landmark Assisted Living Retirement Home. We find peace knowing that Doris has now been reunited with her beloved husband, Ernest Stanley Ayres who passed in 2011. Cherished mother to John (Kelly), Paul (Tammy), Peter (Pamela), and Melissa (Rob). Loved grandmother to Caitlin, Brittani, Tyler, Ashley, Travis and Bailey. Great-grandmother to Ruby and Lathum. Doris will be deeply missed by her siblings Reg (Dorothy), now deceased Jean (Murray), Marjorie (now deceased, Joe), and Lois. Pre-deceased by her parents Fred and Irene Ward and siblings Ronald, Fred, Jack and Barbara (Len). The family would like to extend their utmost thanks and gratitude to the Landmark Assisted Living for the exceptional care and compassion for their mother in her final days. A Private graveside service will be held with Doris’ immediate family, where she will be laid to rest at the St. Peter’s Heritage Cemetery with her husband. A Funeral Service will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 3:30PM. Friends and family are welcomed to a reception at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer Society.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a great lady. My brothers and I knew the family well and have stayed in contact through the years. I was very saddened to just hear of this today and was not able to make the funeral service. She will surely be missed. My brother James and I would like to send our deepest sympathies. May she RIP

I have many fond memories of Doris(Tootsie) growing up on Park Lane. We walked to school each day, she came to my one and only Birthday party, we had fun tobogganing down the hill. Over the years we kept in touch, through conversations and Christmas cards. She was a valued and respected Lady that I was privileged to know.

Wow where to start, so many memories as a child growing up living in the same housing unit with your family as the closest neighbours and going to school with all the kids from James street. Melissa I was saddened when I heard of Doris passing. She now joins Ernie who was a loving husband and I know she is now happy. Doris was so good to Bob and I when Bob began his 30 years with the OPP. He wouldn't let anyone iron his uniform shirts but Doris. She was such a good frieñd..She will be missed by a lot of people ?.
