Affectionately known as Gigi to her six great-grandchildren Ella, Nora, Levi, Joanie, Mabel and Margaret. sending my heartfelt condolences for the passing of your Mom, Denys. I had not seen her since my dad and mom passed away, but I have such fond memories of her - she was always kind, thoughtful and made a real connection. sending a hug from Toronto
I'm sorry I won't be able to attend Evelyn's celebration of life this Sunday. I will always have very fond memories of our childhood growing up in the Coverdale area and spending time at the King's. We both had American Eskimo/Samoyed breed dogs that often played together. Denys spent countless hours at our home as well, since back then there was no kindergarten so we were 6 turning 7 before starting Merwin Greer. Throughout my adult life, Mrs King would always stop and chat whenever we met. She was a real gem, a classy lady with a big smile. She always made you feel important no matter the length of time between visits. The last time I saw Mrs King she was being cared for in the comfort of her own home. She was happy and content. Kudos to the family and health care workers who allowed her to live her final years in her familiar setting. Condolences to you all. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
To Mark and Kathie and all the family, my sincere sympathies.
It was our pleasure to have known the King family for the whole time we lived and worked in the Cobourg area. Evelyn was truly a "lady". Carolyn enjoyed many good days of skiing in the Bethany area with Evelyn and friends. To you Mark and Kathie and your families with send out sincere thoughts and sympathy. Stan and Carolyn Lytle

Ahhhhhh....Mrs. King....I have known this family since we moved to Cobourg in 1960....I grew up with Mark and my sister with Denys...over the years any time I ever ran into Mrs. King, we would have great long chats about many many things - often ski trips, our families, and many wonderful things...the last time I saw her before leaving Cobourg was down in the area where her home is and it was so nice to see her before I left to move to Collingwood, which was about 8 years ago. My thoughts are with you all - your mom was a real treasure, and will be missed, but she had a wonderful life and family, Big big hugs, Hallie

Mark, Kathie, King cousins, Susan and all who are grieving: I am sorry to hear that Evelyn has continued on to the next phase of her journey. I have liked and admired her for the last 40+ years. She had a terrific sense of humor and a wonderful smile and I am glad the last time I saw her was a few years ago at Christmas when she was shining with joy. What has always impressed me most about Evelyn, however, has been the sense of quiet strength and resolve that you could tell lurked just under the surface, wrapped in dignity and grace. Her legacy is in the people over which she will be watching. The parts of her family that I have privilege to know and share are some of the strongest, most compassionate and kind people I have ever met. I don't think there can be a higher tribute to Evelyn. May she enjoy the peace that she has well earned.
Evelyn will be missed. She always had a smile and made the time for a chat whenever our paths crossed. Condolences to her family. RIP Evelyn

The King Family I am very sorry to hear Your Mom had passed away Sincerely
To the entire King family. My wife Heather and I were saddened today to learn of Mrs. King's passing. During our 35+ years living and working in Cobourg, we of course came to know Evelyn and Dave and son Mark, and were privileged to enjoy any opportunity to spend any time at all with them. I would describe Evelyn as having an "elegant" air about her, but not an elegance that would include any sense of superiority or elite status. The absolute contrary would be true, as I found her to be a person who was so very easy to talk with and who made everyone she met feel welcomed and comfortable. She and David were so well known for their support of so many community activities and truly were "pillars of the town" in the best sense of that expression. She truly lived a long and full life and so I trust she has left you with a lifetime of happy memories to comfort you in difficult days such as this. Brad Halls, Fergus, Ontario (formerly of Cobourg)
Mark, Kathie, Denys, Susan, Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren We are sorry to hear of the loss of your dear Evelyn. She was always an elegant, gracious and kind lady who was genuinely interested in others. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Evelyn had a lively smile, and a good sense of humour, memories of which I will keep. God Bless
