After a short, hard fought battle with cancer and with a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Donald James Miedema. Don was 59 years of age when he passed. Born January 15th, 1962 – August 27th, 2021. Don was the husband of almost 21 years to Geraldine Miedema (DeVries) and father of three sons – Brian, John and Nathan. He is the son of James and Anne Miedema and son-in-law of Sylvia DeVries. He is the brother of Sandra Hoekstra (Tim Mitchell), Jake Miedema (Tammy), and Jane deWal (Hotze). He is the brother-in-law of Annette Bruneau (Ray), Art DeVries (Jackie), Rick DeVries, Cynthia White (Duncan) and Yvonne Dulmage (Dan). He is pre-deceased by his nephew Christopher, with whom he had a special bond. There are also many nieces and nephews and their children who will miss funny Uncle Don. He will be missed by all. Don was a kind man, always willing to lend a hand when help was needed. He was a wonderful husband and great dad. He loved his family and was very proud of them. He was impulsive and fun and sometimes very Dutch-like in his determination. Don was a farmer – it wasn’t just what he did, it was who he was. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday , September 25th, 2021 at Lake to Skyview Farm, 160 McLean Road, Cobourg, Ontario. It will be a casual drop in from 1 – 4 pm. Come celebrate the life of Don. Add a story or raise a toast. Don was worth it and deserves to be remembered. Covid restrictions in place where needed. I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. It is a shock. I have enjoyed many years curling with him and will miss his sense of humor and his laid back attitude. My condolences to the family. The world will be worse for his loss.

So sorry for your loss.. Donny was a loving caring soul for sure. I have a lifetime on memories from long ago with him .. Always had a smile on and a gleam in his eye. RIP my dear friend.

Geraldine, I was so sorry to hear about Don. It was a pleasure to know him, he always had a smile on his face. I enjoyed listening to stories about what was happening in the fields and how busy he was. He will be missed.
