Laura passed peacefully after a lengthy and hard fought battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father Ken Andrews, and is survived by her mother Mildred Andrews. She is also survived, and will be forever missed, by her three brothers, Bruce, Gordon (Eileen), and Steven (Vicky); and by her numerous nieces and nephews.
Laura was born in Toronto and grew up in North York. She graduated from Ryerson University and had an early career with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where she worked on shows such as The Galloping Gourmet and 90 Minutes Live with Peter Gzowski. Laura left the CBC and helped her brother establish Wagner Andrews and Kovacs, a real estate appraisal company, in 1992. She retired in 2008, and began a third career taking care of her mother and doing volunteer work. While living in Markham she became involved with the Fusion Gala for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. In 2013 she made the bold decision to move to Cobourg where she purchased a house that truly became a very comfy and cozy home. Some old friends followed her to Cobourg, and many more friendships were developed over the past eight years.
In Cobourg she expanded her volunteer work to include the Northumberland Players Group and the Capital Theatre. She received awards for her community involvement and donated to many causes. Since being diagnosed with cancer in 2019, she became very appreciative of the care and kindness she received from the Northumberland Hills Hospital. In return she became a big supporter of the Hospital’s Foundation. The love she had for all whom she interacted with was returned, and she will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life for Laura will be held on Tuesday August 17, 2021 at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg from 1 to 4 pm in the reception center. With COVID restrictions all guests must wear masks, sign in for contact tracing, maintain a 2 m distance zone, and obey room restrictions for 40 people at a time.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Laura’s memory to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

Aunt Laura will be missed by so many. She was one of the strongest, most giving, and wonderful people we have ever known. She lived life to the fullest and showed us the value in taking time to travel, see and experience the world, enjoy time with friends, and take care of those you love. We will celebrate the life she lived and be thankful we were the lucky ones to have known her. She will be missed forever, but will always be in our hearts.
Laura was that unique and special person whom one might run across during a lifetime if lucky. She was kind, and caring, always giving of herself, because she loved be with others. Need help with a project?Laura was the first to volunteer. No job beneath her, and never one to expect laud and praise. She was there to get it done and have some laughs while doing it. I will miss her impish smile, her laugh and hearing that voice saying , "What else needs to be done?" Truly a shining star...
Laura was a special, one-of-a-kind person. Always upbeat, forthright, energetic and fearless. She was definitely larger than life with a personality to match and always up for a challenge. To Bruce, Gord and Steve, I hope that your many happy memories will help to comfort you in the days and months ahead. I have lost a dear friend, and you, a loving and protective big sister.
I'm so sorry to hear of Laura's passing. We met while walking our Cobourg neighbourhood and often spoke of our loved ones (Laura's mom, my cousin) in Long Term Care, even shared a few hugs over it! Just before my move, I dropped some cookies off to Laura, we said our goodbyes and had a little hug. So grateful for that moment! My heart goes out to Laura's family and friends at this sad time.
I have been reading the wonderful comments that have been made about Laura in this obituary. Doug and I have known Laura for many years and like most of the other folks have been saying, she surely was a spunky never complaining kind of gal. We all will miss her cheerfulness and time spent volunteering with the many charities she was involved with. Lots of love, Laura Sandy and Doug

Laura was such a bright, positive light. She will be missed by many. Our paths often crossed as we climbed Port Hope hills, or the boardwalk in Cobourg. She was constantly cheerful and appreciative: a good soul.
I grew up in Orillia and looked forward to the times in the summer when I was able to spend time with Laura and family. As her older cousin, we kept in touch and my heart was broken on her passing. She made the trip out to Alberta for our 50th wedding anniversary and we discovered how smart, funny and family oriented she was. I will miss our phone calls but am so glad to be able to keep in touch with her brother, Bruce. I will never forget my wonderful cousin, Laura.

Laura was tiny but had the presence of twenty her size. Her positivity and get it done attitude made her a highly sought volunteer and delightful companion. I so enjoyed my time with Laura on the 50/50 table at the Best Western where her engaging style coupled with sharp counting skills made her an invaluable asset to the Northumberland Players fundraising. She riled me with her adventures at sea and on land and was an inspiration on how to connect with others and enjoy life. I will miss Laura in ways I don't even know yet. My sincere condolences on your loss of this very special person. Laura Garton

I only knew Laura from her morning jaunts to Tim's to fill her mug with coffee during her walks. She fought a brave battle with cancer, never complaining. Laura will be warmly remembered. My heartfelt symphany to her family and friends.
My association with Laura was brief, as were our encounters, but I liked her immensely - she was comfortable to be with and obviously spunky. We first met when she, through N'land Players, and I, through Victoria Hall Volunteers, were involved in a joint production - 150 years (I think that was the number!) of Fashion. We later met over a couple of dinners through mutual friends. She was amusing, fun to be with and obviously dedicated to the theatre. I am so sorry she has left this particular theatre world but will, I'm sure, find her way to another. My deep sympathies to her family.
Laura was a dear friend and neighbour. Our sincere condolences to her family. It was our wish to meet her brothers and share some fine moments we had with Laura, but alas, we will be out of province during her celebration of life. Rest In Peace, Laura. You will not be forgotten.
Steve and I are deeply saddened to learn of our friend, Laura's passing. She was a loyal and good friend, and always so full of exuberance, ideas and enthusiasm when we worked together at Cystic Fibrosis Canada Gala events for many years, We shall miss her very much. Steve and Bonnie
I am so sorry to hear of Laura's passing. I got to know Laura through volunteering at The Capitol Theatre. We often met at Tim's before the pandemic. I will miss her .

It's hard to believe that Laura, that special, spunky, generous and classy lady, is no longer with us. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, by all those who had the pleasure of getting to know her and share her boundless energy in her adopted community of Cobourg. Laura was such a positive and courageous person as she battled her disease with grace, dignity and a wicked, funny sense of humour and wry smile. We will always fondly remember your jaunty morning walks to Timmy's with your stainless mug by your side! Rest in peace, sweet lady. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all your family and many friends in Canada and around the globe. With fond memories, David & Gladys

I only knew Laura briefly, on board the Norwegian Spirit on a cruise to Spain. We spent many evenings in the lounge with several glasses of wine listening to the jazz and Latin bands that played nightly. She was so much fun! I was looking forward to visiting her in Cobourg the summer after we got back, but sadly that trip was sidelined by her illness. My sincere condolences to her family.
We will fondly remember being so warmly welcomed by Laura when we moved to Cobourg. She was always ready to share travel stories over a glass or two of wine, and many times we opened our door to find Laura standing on our porch with freshly baked goods from the Black Cat or the farmers' market. We will miss seeing her walking by our kitchen window carrying her mug of morning coffee, or reading on the deck of her cheery yellow house with the red door. She bore her illness with grace and steadfast courage. Laura had a generous spirit and she cast a wide net of friendship, touching the hearts of everyone she met and served through her tireless volunteering. She was a devoted daughter, and spoke often of her family to whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy. Be at peace, dear friend.
