Such a special man who we feel privileged to have met and will be forever remembered. His kindness to the animals, quick wit and hilarious pranks brought so many smiles and laughs. Walk on Jim, you are sorely missed. May his many memories comfort and support all of his loved ones at this difficult time.
Remembering the great times at your farm watching the grey cup RIP Jim you will be missed
Hey Jim, You know I always tried to have the last word… When you asked us if we could find a dog for you we wanted to help you. It was as if divine intervention listened! Bronson arrived & needed to be re-homed! You & Bronson struck up an immediate connection! You took him as soon as you two met & afterwards you two were inseparable! Both of you needed each blending together your huge hearts. We are so glad we had the opportunity to accommodate your request.♥️
We first met Jim in 2004 when we purchased 40 acres south of his farm. He was the first person who came to welcome us to this area. That memory of Jim driving up on his tractor to say welcome, will forever be etched in our memory banks. He and Jean would come down with a homemade pie in hand to share. We had a tent setup under the trees where we ate our meals & they often came to join us. We shared happy & sad memories with Jim over the years. Jim was always happy to help out in any manner he could. He just loved to be part of the land preparation & building encouraging us along the way. What a mischievous character who just loved to joke around putting a smile on those who were around him. Jim had a stubborn streak and dug in his heels on anything that he was passionate about. One learned quickly that Jim was not one to argue with. His horses & farm were always his life. It was totally evident as soon as one met Jim that those were the things that defined Jim. He had a way with horses & he was one with them. Farming was his life, something that he always knew, loved & lived. When Jim bought his Kubota tractor cab & all, that was according to him, a dream come true in his senior years! Jim, thankyou for being you & we are forever grateful that we had the opportunity that you were part of our lives. Unfortunately, we are unable to attend your memorial service today, we send our sincere condolences to your family.

Although we are unable to be at the memorial we would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family. Jim was and always will be remembered as a person of compassion for his family and his animals. Horses were the love of his life and his communication with them was personal. . I am sure he will be happy to see ED again and his family who went before him. He was always good for laugh and a bit of a prankster. Rest in peace my cousin.
Lindsey, Jimmy, Shannon, Bob and Marilyn, I am so sorry for your loss. It truly won’t be the same around here without him. Jim and I became fast friends as soon as we both realized that we could not out argue each other. He had his way and I had my way. A happy medium was reached once we got over ourselves! Still, I didn’t know how to dig post holes, or run fence lines and my goodness, who taught me how to stack hay bales on a wagon? (Jim, it’s 40C out here, so density, fewer trips, ya know?...). At least I could remember PUSH not pull for attaching implements on the !?@&*! Kubota! Our projects usually ended with laughs, or a tractor bogged down in mud. Thanks for your friendship Jim, your ever-ready helping hand and most of all just supporting what I was trying to do on my own. When my family and friends all said Why? or Do you think you can handle that by yourself?, you where the one who simply asked what you could do to help. I very much appreciated that. Now, you go take care of Max and I won’t give up on Miles, The Good Horse.

I had the pleasure of meeting this great man last year when I dropped off his grandson Jimmy, my friend, off at the farm. I could already tell he was a nice family man. This year, about 2 weeks before he passed, I was lucky enough to spend a whole week with him when I came back to the family farm, this time as Jimmy's girlfriend. Jim was a wonderful man, loved and respected by many. I just wish I had more time to get to know him better. He was always laughing, cracking a joke and made everyone around him smile and laugh. You will be greatly missed poppa but I promise you I will be there for Jimmy through thick and thin. RIP poppa xox
Forever grateful to Jim and all his friendship. When we went to view our future home for the first time in 2009 he was fixing a fence as we passed and turned to wave to us. He later is the one who dropped off our keys and became a dear friend to our family and all its extended members. He was our horses' first home and a celebrity to our dogs. He always checked in with us about my late Grandfather and how he was doing, telling us to pass on invitations for him to come share a whiskey. He taught me to drive on his tractor and later helped us put in our very own fences. Every visit home for me included a wave or drop in at Jim's, banter and jokes. He was always prepared to take a prank with promises of retaliation. He would always speak so fondly and highly of his family, most notably his dear wife, and the latest chat he'd had with his sister about the game. I feel very lucky to have heard his stories and had a glimpse at his life through the years I have known him. I will miss him very much.
Storyteller, prankster, horse lover ... but above all, a colourful character who left no doubt about where he stood on anything or anyone. Outstanding in his field, Jim is unforgettable and irreplaceable. Deepest sympathy to his family. Carola (friend and former neighbour)
