Peter Haller passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, June 5th at Ed’s House at the age of 82. He was born in Basel, Switzerland and in 1967 he came to Canada with his young family. When his 2 – year contract ended with General Electric in Montreal, he decided to stay in Canada. After a career in Project Management, he followed his passion for the Arts and graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto. His work has been exhibited in Canada, Switzerland and Germany. Peter will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 59 years Hanna, daughter’s Sibylle (Mark) and Andrea (Pierre), his brother Christian (Janka), Switzerland and his grandchildren Shannon (Nanda), Dallas (Mackenzie), Kelsey and Sydney. There will be a cremation with private family arrangements. A celebration of life to be held at Peter’s studio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Art Gallery of Northumberland would be appreciated.

I went to teacher’s college and lived with Andrea and had the good fortune of spending some time with you (often when we were on our way from London to Ottawa). Dear Hanna & Family: I remember so clearly you and Peter coming to all the Gallery Exhibition openings in the early days of the new "High Class" Victoria Hall Location. And you Hanna, and 3 or 4 other extraordinary Volunteers that came in at least 3Xs a week (when I worked there 1977-87) to help move this small Gallery into one of more prominence, and a Gem in our Community. I personally remember you, Judy Bolt (d.), Dianne Glennie (d.) Heather Weyman, Peter Cragg (d.) and David Doig always working on Fundraising Events (as lack of money always a problem in the Arts), organizing them, & working on Special Events - Advertising, Films, Lectures, Xmas Craft Sales, Bus trips to the AGO, etc. They also served on the Board of Directors at different times. And also Anne Kolisnyk, Gallery Director who was so wise & wonderful to work with. So thanks to all of you!!!! Peter got to follow his Dream after retirement & you were a huge important part & supporter of this. I am so sorry for your loss! But I know you & Family have so many Good & Happy Memories.
