Colin Currie

April 3, 1938 - April 2, 2021

Colin was born on the Isle of Bute in beautiful Scotland. He served in the Royal Air Force then joined The Bank of Scotland. Colin moved to Canada in 1961. He continued his banking and trust career in the financial district of Downtown Toronto, with TD Bank, Canada Permanent/Canada Trust as Executive Vice President, then in the Securities business as Chairman and CEO of CDS (Canadian Depository for Securities) before retiring. Colin loved his family visits, his cottage life and was very proud of his garden. He and Linda were blessed with years of extensive travel. Colin was the beloved husband of Linda Currie (nee Cairns). Loving father of Steven, Scott and Janice. Fondly remembered by his former wife Sheena. Dear step-father of Mark, Matthew (Suzanne) and Darren. Proud grandfather of Matthew, Riley, Jackson, Leah, Charlie, Eric and Ryan and great grandfather of Emma and Rowan. Colin will be sadly missed by his cousins Moira and Elizabeth (Brian) and his sister-in-law Joanne Kelly. A private burial will be held in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Scarborough. A get together will be arranged for friends in Cobourg as soon as gatherings are permitted. Linda would like to thank Dr. Pepper, Dr. Mule, Nurse Cailin and several kind PSW’s for their support and care of Colin. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital or charity of your choice.

MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Vito DiPinto - May 5, 2021

Sincerest condolences to the entire family, I have fond memories of Mr. Currie at CDS. It was a special time in my young career with a great crew leading us at the helm. I distinctively remember Mr.Curries vibrant smile when we’d cross path on the elevator or was reckoned to his office to fix his computer. The tribute video clearly depicts what family meant to him. Sincerest Condolences Vito DiPinto

My condolences to the Currie family. I worked for Colin during his time at CDS. He was a great leader and a very fine person. I remember one of his favourite sayings....to take your right hand and place on your left shoulder and move it up and down in order give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. He will be missed.
