Peacefully at Streamway Villa, Cobourg on Monday March 15th, 2021 in her 90th year where she resided for the past year. Her previous home was in Norwood where she resided for over 50 years and during that time, retired as the Deputy Clerk of the Village of Norwood. Beloved wife of the late Blair Thackeray (2011) and youngest daughter of the late Frank and Viola Halligan whose family home and farm was on Cavan Road. Loving mother of Jane Hurst (John) and Brad Thackeray. Loving grandmother of Elizabeth Hurst, John Hurst (Kristina), Victoria Hurst-Proulx, Emily Thackeray (Mike) and Hannah Thackeray (Casey) and great grandmother of John, Truman, Hayden, Blair and McKinley. Barb will be missed by her loving fur baby Katrina. Dear sister of Shirley Fallow (the late George) and sister-in-law Valetta McVety (late Jack). Lovingly remembered by the extended Thackeray family and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Friday March 19th, 2021 from 11 am. – 12 noon (Please RSVP at www.MacCoubrey.com ), followed by a memorial service at 12 noon. Interment in Plainville United Church Cemetery in the spring. If desired donations may be made to the Northumberland Humane Society.

To Jane & family, I was so sorry to see that your mom had passed away, Jane. I'm thinking of you, your family, and Shirley at this sad time.
Jane, Brad and families: My condolences on the passing of a loved mom, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always so proud to share stories of her family. I will remember Barb for her love of her cat, her delicious lunches when we had a UCW meeting at her place, her participation in church activities and her determination to "keep going" even though she had lots of set backs. May the many memories of days past and the love and support of family and friends be a comfort at this time.

Barb will be always remembered with much love as she was like a second mother to me.I spent many hours at there house in Cobourg.She got me through some troubled times.We always stayed in touch over the years and visited her in Norwood when we could.She would always make rolls for us which Art and I enjoyed.I will inform my brothers Lloyd and Tony and sister Helena.Our sincere condolences to Jane and Brad and their families.May she rest in peace.Love Nancy
