“An Angel has just passed away returning to his Home.” The Family wishes to announce the passing of John William Gadd 70 years of age on Tuesday February 23, 2021 at Streamway Villa Long Term Care Home, Cobourg.
John will be truly missed and never forgotten by his many friends and family members including his loving wife Vicky (nee Westington) of nearly 28 years, brothers Bill (Ngoc), Steve (Faithe), Rick (Jan), Paul (Diane), and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Cherished Son of deceased parents William and Audrey Gadd. Uncle John was dearly loved by all Gadd nieces and nephews – April, Bria, Adam, Rachel, Jacob Benjamin, Peter, Lydon, Kim, Darryl, Krista and Michelle.
John was born August 26th, 1950 both physically and mentally handicapped at birth with Cerebral Palsy, later Epilepsy and deemed legally blind. He did not crawl till he was 2 years of age and did not walk without assistance till 4 years of age. But through the constant love, training and devotion of his Parents, John succeeded in meeting all of these challenges. An outstanding Brother, Brother-in-law and Uncle that none of us and our families will ever forget for his constant positive attitude, his loyalty and his love for family get togethers. John and wife Vicky were a beautiful couple that brought so much joy to the Gadd Family get togethers and traditions.
John received training and support throughout the years at a Smith Falls handicap facility, Sunshine Heights Public School, ARC Industries - both Roe Street and Cottesmore Avenue, along with ACCESS Community Services, and as a member of Trinity United Church. John’s passions were bingo, bowling, poker, driving the Captain John Pontoon Boat and cottaging.
The Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Stratford and the entire Support Team at the 5 Star Streamway Villa, Cobourg for the extraordinary love, care and support for John over the past 3 years.
Those wishing to honour John may make memorial donations to Streamway Villa – Staff Support Team.
Celebration of Life Funeral and Burial Services will be held at Union Cemetery, Cobourg this coming summer once the COVID restrictions lift.
For all of us that over the years that loved John, or assisted with care, support, and friendship would most likely agree that John made us a better person of ourselves. May God bless all of you.

I knew John many many years ago as a support staff at Access Community Services. I knew He and Vicky when they first knew each other. John always made everyone laugh and always showed concern for me riding my bike back and forth between Port Hope and Cobourg to work. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t try to overcome. As a young women learning my career and job then, John inspired me as a daily example of courage! Vicky and he were immediately taken to each other. She giggled and smiled around him. Their connection was evident. May he Rest In Peace and may Vicky keep the light going for both of them.
To Vicky and the Gadd family, we are so sorry to hear of John’s passing. During his younger years when he came for visits to Uncle Fred and Aunt Barb in Peterborough, our family always found him to be such a cheerful and well-mannered young man. It was a pleasure to know him. Our sincere condolences.
To John's wife Vicky and family , the Gadd family , our thoughts and prayers are with you through this very difficult time. So sorry for your loss.
To Vicky and all of John's family and friends, sincere condolences for your great loss. Few people give birth to the depth and width of love that Johnny (my Mom and Dad always used Johnny when speaking affectionately of him) so easily brought into his sphere. For all the abilities that may have escaped his grasp, he was a champion of love. Earth is diminished but heaven is all the brighter with his passing. You know this is true. Fred McGovarin

To Steve, Bill, Rick and entire Gadd family our sincere condolences at John’s passing. We feel we know some of your pain as Mary lost her special needs younger sister Christine, just over a month ago which has left a huge void in our lives. Knowing what a loving, supportive family you were to John, we know that you will miss him greatly. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Oh Sweet Uncle John we miss you so much already! You have earned your golden wings and as bitter sweet it is we find comfort knowing you are back with Nana and Poppa. We will cherish all of our memories of you from family gatherings, trips to Peterbrough to see Great Nana Bolton or a good old game of Old Maid on a rainy day at the cottage. Rest peacefully until we meet again xox

My codolences with Gadd family! I have never had a chance to meet Mr. John but I heard many good things about him from Mr. Bill. May we wish him a better life with God and I believe we all miss him forever!
I am so very sorry to hear of John's passing. It was always a pleasure to have him come into the barber shop. I loved hearing his stories and visiting with him. I know he will be sadly missed by many. John truly made the world a better place.
I’d like to express my condolences to the whole family but particularly to Vicky who I came to know at Legion Village. I’m sorry for your loss.
I will dearly miss my incredible uncle who simultaneously taught me, and brought me, joy. Our memories will always be held close my heart.
I met John (and the Gadd family) as a newspaper carrier at the age of 12. I likely had more interaction with John in those days than anyone else in the family. He always had a smile and asked me how I was - and stole the comics from the Saturday Star as soon as it arrived. I probably looked forward to the Gadd house more than any other on my route - and it was largely because of John. I could always knew he would brighten my day, I always counted myself lucky and better off for having known such a kind soul. Rest easy John.

Steve.. Sorry to hear of the passing of your brother..always a sad thing to go through.
I was so sorry to hear about John's passing yesterday. My deepest sympathies go out to all of the Gadd family and to dear Vicky. He will certainly be missed by so many and there is no one like John that could replace his beautiful smile, laugh, his jokes and his sweet ways. He had a heart of gold and I was so very privileged to know him. No one could welcome you in the same warm way that John did. He made us feel special and was always so pleased to see you. I miss seeing John regularly after being a support worker to him for 18 years but was glad he was able to live safely at Streamway villa getting great care and always having his family close by with their loving devotion. I enjoyed a long conversation with John on his birthday and told him I would always be his friend and that I loved him. Thank you God for John Gadd's beautiful soul ❤️
To John’s family, I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing! He was such a personable guy! I met him when he visited LifeLabs. I became very fond of John and the fun conversations we would have! Sincerely, Carol Ann Heffernan
