I know I’m very late to send this, but I had just found out about the loss. My condolences to the family. Doris was always so bright. She always lit up any room she walked in. The love between John and Doris was the most amazing love anyone could witness. I’m just so sorry that I had to leave the retirement home when I did. Unfortunately I never did get the chance to say goodbye to the Winters. Doris was cherished by us all. Again my condolences. Deanna Street
My condolences to John and family at this sad and difficult time. Doris and you, John, were wonderful neighbours. My boys, Dan and Derek used to shovel your driveway in the wintertime. Sometime we had wonderful chats across the yards. Rest in peace, Doris.
Doris was the first person that I worked with at Petticoat Lane; she had a wonderful sense of humour and wore a procession of different hats so we called her the hat lady. Even when she lived at Victoria Retirement she continued to walk to Petticoat Lane quite often with her walker and her latest hat acquisition . Doris was a lovely lady.

Dear John and Anne, Evelyn, Linda and Barbara and your respective families, I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved wife and mother. During these trying times we could not visit her during the last of her days. But perhaps she would have preferred it that way as we will just have to remember her for the lovely and vivacious woman she was. I will always remember her for cooking our midday dinners at your farm, helping us with the hay, taking me and Barbara to the Buttermilk Cafe, coming to visit her parents' old farm for one last time. And we will all remember her for the marvellous stories she wrote in her wonderful book of her life. What a lady! My sincere condolences. Please tell Mr. Winter how much I miss him and how much we will all miss Mrs. Winter.
We were so very sorry to hear of Doris' passing. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

For John and family, we so enjoyed knowing you and Doris for many years since moving to Cobourg in 1986 and living beside you both on Springbrook Road. You always made us feel welcome in our new neighbourhood! Doris always looked so "smart" with hat and jewelry and her wonderful smile whenever we met in town in the years after we moved. You two were obviously a loving and welcoming couple. Always think of you with affection. Chris and Jim

Many fond memories. Family gatherings at Grandma & Grandpa’s, so many family parties & helping bring in hay on the farm - complete with lunches like I’ve never seen. Aunt Doris always had a smile & always took time to talk to you. Not to mention her signature hats. A warm gentle sole. Rest In Peace Aunt Doris, until we see you again.

I was so sorry and sad to learn of the passing of Mrs. Winter. I am remembering the time I would walk down Springbrook Rd, in Cobourg and often stop and chat with Doris. She would often smile when I reminded her that my grandmother's name was Doris. To her family: I am cherished by the current memories of being a couple of months younger than Evelyn. The bbqs we had at our house on Springbrook Rd certainly were fun as our entire bowling team and friends joined this annual event. God Bless all of you and please remember that tears dry away, memories never do.
I always enjoyed when she’d stop to say hi and a quick chat when I was working at No Frills, and I’ll always remember the fun New Years Eve parties. Good bye for now Aunt Doris.
She was a gem and a beautiful understanding and unusual person. Love you
Lots of love from Dwight and myself to the entire family. May I quote her book. "Resigned and knowing this, is part of being human and "it to will pass". I was filled with a feeling of acceptance and peace." Doris Winter
Sorry for your loss... Your Mom was a beautiful woman... Hard working Farmer's wife as I recall.. As a young girl, upon visiting Linda one Saturday afternoon... Your Mom introduced me to a delicious no-bake cookie called Fiddle-Faddles... they were delicious... But her smile and warm heart I remember best.
So sorry for your loss. Your Mom was a sweet sincere lady and I always enjoyed any time I got to see her. Our condolences to your entire family.
