I knew Mary late in her life, and found her to be such a warm, intelligent, and responsive friend who was deeply devoted to her family and to nature, especially on Mudlunta Island. I will miss her. This is for my dear friend, BJ, who I've known for decades - and for her brother, Michael, who I met only once - but felt I had known for a very long time.... I wish I had met your sister, Mary, as she sounds like a truly caring and wonderful person. It is very difficult to lose a sibling - someone you've shared much of your life with, but you will have hundreds of happy memories to remind you that she is still in your life (somewhere, when you least expect to think about her). I am thinking about you, her children, and your whole family at this sad time.

I was fortunate enough to have her as my doctor at Cobourg hospital when I was in Grade 6. I ended up having quite a serious health issue to which she tended to and swiftly put me in an ambulance and sent me off for further care. She was a tremendous doctor. Whether walking the LL trust property, or recalling our struggling French lessons, and that hilarious trip to Quebec plus the many happy meals we shared our paths crossed and we became friends. I had the pleasure of getting to know Mary on a hiking trip to the Amalfi Coast . She loved nature and hiking. I know she will be sorely missed by her family, friends and colleagues.

Mary was a constant presence in our lives as she lived across the street from us. She spent so many hours out in her yard that we saw her daily. She inspired us with her love of trees, birds, walking and all the gifts nature gives to us. We knew we had a special neighbour in Mary. We would always make a point of telling her that we had been out to the outdoor Ed centre to walk our dog and to recognize her land trust. We were blessed to have the best neighbour in the world for twenty-five years. We miss her sorely already and are grateful for the time we had her with us and our lovely friendship. Jessica and John, we are thinking of you at this sad time.

Helen and I recall many enjoyable conversations with Mary, including her tales of overseas hiking holidays and her summer months on the island. An active member of the Pine Ridge Hiking Club over many years, she was very pleasant modest company on our hikes around the County. Our condolences to her family.

I remember going to emergency over 26 years ago for a work injury and having a good cry with Dr. Bedford-Jones because she became close friends with my mom during her illness. I had not met Dr. Bedford-Jones until that moment and she hugged me, told me how much she had missed my mom. Very lovely, compassionate lady.

Upon moving back to Cobourg, Dr. Bedford-Jones 'inherited' me as a patient following a visit to ER. She was a competent and caring family doctor and I missed her when she retired. A loss to her profession and our community. Sincere condolences to her family.

A very special person. When my dog and I passed by her house on one of our walks and Mary was working in her lovely yard, we always stopped to chat. Mary always remembered my dog's name and greeted him as well! I will miss her smiling countenance and gentle manner.

We will be forever grateful for her donation of what is now the Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education Centre to NLT in 2005, our very first property.
