Darrin Mathews ( Hendry) - December 12, 2021

RIP Steve .. or “Liggy” as those closest to him called him . I recently watched movie about addiction and childhood and thought of him . Where he was now .to my amazement he had passed recently and this was a shock. He was a great soul. I idolized him most of public school and early years in highschool. We were nearly inseparable from these times . We spent many days and nights playing D and D , mackecknie road hockey and rafting down the creek. I have tons of fond memories of Steve. We were almost like brothers . I had lost touch with Steve when I left Cobourg some 27 years ago and in late high school when our life pasts took different directions . I will cherish our childhood memories together and the great times and memories we shared . My condolences to his family and brothers . Love you “Liggy” Dee

Susan - February 7, 2021

I am so sorry to hear of Steve’s passing. I met Steve through my place of employment. He was always polite, respectful, usually funny and I always looked forward to seeing him. Steve made a very positive impact on my sons life. On bring your child to work day Steve asked to speak to my son. He knew through our conversations that my son was a hockey player as he had been. Steve spoke with him for 20 minutes. My son was 14. About a year ago a ran into Steve again and asked him if he remembered that conversation. I told him how my son recalled it every time he was tempted to turn down that dangerous path..just once..just to see what it’s like. My son didn’t try it because of Steve. Steve was in tears to think he had a positive influence on someone’s life. I am forever grateful. I will miss running into Steve. I hope he is at peace ♥️
