Betty Jean Ann Menzies

August 18, 1931 - January 12, 2021

Peacefully at Cobourg, Ontario, CANADA in her 90th year, on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021, Betty Jean Ann Menzies (nee Taylor), daughter of Cyril “Bonnie” Taylor and Jeannie Thompson Greenhorn. Long time loving companion of Edward Green, and former wife of Robert Leslie Menzies, by whom she was predeceased in 1985, and much cherished mother of their five children together. She was a loving mother to Brenda Marlaine Menzies and Robert David Menzies who sadly predeceased her in 1967 and 2007, Donna Marie Menzies, Jan Louise Menzies (Garry Gordon), Gordon Richard Menzies (Jodi Lynn Hackney) and well-loved son-in-law Dale William Heeley, all of Cobourg, Ontario save for Gordon, who resides in Barrie, Ontario. Cherished and loving grandmother of nine grandchildren – Robert Gordon Menzies, Brandon Patrick Menzies, Tanya Marie Thompson, William Richard Heeley, Eric Preston, Rachel Audrey Jean Lewis, Nicolas Valerian Menzies, Maya Janina Menzies and Rowan Archer Menzies. Dearly missed by great granddaughter Ashley Ann-Marie Thompson. Sister of the late Alexander Greenhorn (Muriel Irene Ainsworth), the late Mary Taylor (William McIvor), the late Florence Frances Taylor (Gerry Doyle/Bob Pearse) and the late Helen Beatrice Taylor (Ross Francis). She is survived by her younger brothers Cyril “Jim” Taylor (Nancy Elma Ferguson/Carol Anne Baily) and Ronald David Taylor (Mary Wong/Beverly Harris). Also fondly remembered by dear friend Lily T. Lis. She will be sorely missed by many more friends, nieces, nephews, kith and kin who admired in her the positive virtues of a tenacious spirit, kindly generosity and deep-rooted strength and will be well received by those awaiting her on the far side. Much love and respect to dear niece and second generation Clan Piper, Mary Taylor Ito, Pipe Major of the Cobourg Legion Pipe Band who honoured Betty with her last song.
A sincere thank you from the immediate and extended Clan to Dr. F. Mulé and the staff of the Northumberland Hills Hospital, as well as to the exemplary service of the staff and administration of Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, Community Care Northumberland, the St. Elizabeth nurses and the MacCoubrey Funeral Home.
No memorial service will be held at this time.
