Passed peacefully early in the morning of December 31, 2020, in his 70th year, in the loving embrace of his devoted wife and children, Michael and Krysta. Mike is survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Lydia; children Adam, Michael (Twyla), Krysta (Tyler); beloved grandchildren Ashlynn, Tyson, Talia and Micheal; many cherished siblings and dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Mike and Lydia settled into Colborne in 1982, they spent years renovating the family farm where they raised their children, instilling in them his passion for life and his “never give up attitude”. They built their “dream home” on the farm overlooking Lake Ontario. It was here that Mike could be found working the fields, working on machinery, tending to the vegetable garden, and having a warm beer in his shop.
Home (on the farm) was where his heart was. His greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play in the gardens, visiting with his children, and reminiscing with his brothers and sisters. His connection to his birthplace in Saskatchewan and to all his aunts, uncles and cousins was deep and profound.
Working to succeed meant many things to Mike, most important to him was succeeding in caring for his family, being a good Dad, a good husband, a good provider, and a good friend.
For those who worked with Mike over his long and successful career in the finance and mortgage industry knew his drive, his kindness, and his generosity. Mike will be missed deeply by all who knew him. He was our hero.
“When you speak of him, speak not with tears, for thoughts of him should not be sad. Let memories of the times you shared give comfort, for his life was rich because of you.” – Author Unknown.

I am so sorry to hear that Mike passed away, I knew Mike in the 1970's we roomed together in Toronto and made many trips to Brighten Ontario on the weekends in his 1969 green Camaro. He was a good friend and always willing to help a friend when they needed help. I spoke with him a couple of years ago and he said that he wanted to come out west to see the Badlands, I told him if he ever did, to give me a call. Rest in Piece Mike.
