Tristan Lee (Kevin) Covert

April 19, 1965 - January 3, 2021

On January 3, 2021, Lee simply went to sleep and didn’t awaken, securely guarded by his beloved Halo, who he once described as being his “sun, moon, and stars”. Lee would be buoyed (if he could reach any further than heaven) by the love for him, as evidenced by the way grumpy little Halo will be nurtured and cared for until he leaves this world on his journey to meet Lee again.
His decision to return to Cobourg was a great one. He embraced the small town life. He always said every job change brought new opportunities to make new friendships, despite him being fiercely independent. Hopefully he will be remembered as tirelessly working on philanthropic causes such as “The longest Lunch” offering support to Cornerstone, and Transition House, his help in Colborne with “Cramahe Strong”, or perhaps the passion obvious in the catering events he enjoyed so much. Perhaps you will remember his kindness, or his laughter, or maybe it will be his love and compassion for those less fortunate, or those in need, which made him a very special member of the community he was so proud of. Had Covid not struck, his newest endeavour, may not have been born. He was so grateful to the community in making this possible and was very aware that while his food was delicious, so many of you were “regulars” not because you were hungry for more veal parmigiana, but because you wanted to support him. We wish to thank all of you for your kindness. Please know that this kept him going during this “slow” start. He was encouraged that in 2021 the entire town would see a resurgence, and his business would thrive. It saddens us to think that he will be missing all the celebrations in 2021.
Words cannot express the loss the family feels at this time. He had so many plans and was feeling happy and positive that much of the suffering in 2020 would soon be a distant memory, but this has now come to an abbreviated end. His unexpected passing has left his siblings Bruce (Danice), Melanie (Paul), Scott (Michelle), and sister in law, Sheila (Barry), along with his treasured nephews and nieces, Jorden, Ryan, Megan (Alex), Stewart, McKenzie and grand niece Madison with the heaviness of profound sadness. However we take comfort in knowing that he is not alone. His parents, George and Margaret, along with his brothers, Brian and Barry were there to greet him.
Luke 23:43. ‘Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in heaven’. Sleep well our love, we will miss you until it is your turn to greet us. Please bring Halo with you.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to any local charity, or alternatively, share a smile with a stranger, or think of Lee anytime you walk by 255 Division Street. This truly was his happy place, if only for a brief moment.
A memorial will be held in the spring/summer when the Covid restrictions no longer prevent us from honouring Lee. However, we must warn you in advance, we cannot vouch for the caterer. Sadly, the best one God ever produced, is not available.

This is such a beautiful obituary to honor Lee. He was my next door neighbour and was a great neighbour. He was very friendly and kind. We talked often while he was walking Halo. I sometimes said to him that it was so great to see how much patience he had with Halo. He would chuckle. The walks were always long because Halo had a mind of his own but Lee would just take his time with him until Halo indicated he was done and ready to go inside again. I hope Halo is doing okay. I am sending my condolences along with thoughts and prayers to his family from my family. He will be missed. RIP Lee. We will all see each other again one day.
