A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 16th at Kelly's Homelike Inn from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
On his terms, Bill passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife Judy (nee Bevan) and girls by his side, so loved by Shelley Elliott (Mike Ryan), Stacie Sawyer (Jeff) and Stephanie (Adam Sherwin). He was the biggest fan and most loving Grampy of Mikayla, Sydney, Jordyn, Emily and Ethan. Loved brother of Mary Elliott, Laura Chase (Jim), Don (Kelly) and John (deceased). Pre-deceased by his parents Borden and Evelyn. Forever remembered by his brothers-in-law John Bevan (Mary), Jaye Bevan (Sandy), sisters-in-law Jan Bradford (Steve) and Joy Doncaster (Bob). Much loved and idolized uncle of the Elliott, Fulford and Bevan families. So badly missed by his loyal companion “Jack”. Bill, Cowboy, Dad, Grampy …….to know him was to love him!! You could always find Bill at a ball diamond, arena or where ever someone needed help, personally or a sports team, he raised monies through his famous Euchre Tournaments, raffles, 50/50’s, hockey and ball pools, he did it all. He had to be the best 50/50 ticket seller ever. His pride and joy was his involvement with sports, whether it was the Coldsprings Cats, Cobourg Cougars, Oshawa Hilliers, hockey, Legion darts and Golf. He made friends from coast to coast, Cuba and Myrtle Beach. He will always be remembered by his Malone group, his Turkey Bowl group and his daily coffee group as a loyal and dependable friend. He would always put a smile on his customer’s faces when they heard the whistling and humming as he happily cleaned their windows. Thank you isn’t enough for the love and appreciation we have for our PSW’s, St. Elizabeth nurses, Lakeridge hospital and Northumberland Hills Hospital nursing staffs. A very special heartfelt thank you to our doctor and friend Francisco Mule, Susan Jenereaul, Tracy Bagshaw and our own 4th daughter and special nurse CaraLea Calvert for all their kindness. I am sure Bill is happily organizing a tournament of some kind, for “Anybody in the House” and it will be a “Barn Burner”. To know him was to love him young or old. You had a “Friend for Life”. Bill loved his family, friends and community. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northumberland Hills Hospital Palliative Care or Cobourg Sports Hall of Fame (www.cdshf.ca).
“Love You Guys”
I loved him so much. He was so kind to me and m grandsons. Always treated everyone so kind. He has taught so many how to be kind. P
Its been my pleasure knowing Bill all these years, whether through Hockey or him running all those euchre tournaments for all those years, This man had a heart of gold. One of my favourite sayings that Bill use to tell the euchre crowd, The rules are, there are no rules always got a laugh. I know he raised a lot of money for various sport teams. There will never be another like him. RIP Bill
We are so sorry for your loss, he will always be remembered.
Cowboy was a great man. He knew a lot about lots of things - but he taught me specifically about fastball catching, having fun and he also taught my father that there is no shame (if you’re over 70) in teeing off from the reds. One time he also challenged a man less then half his age to round three of a leg wrestling match - and the younger man backed down. RIP Cowboy.
One of a kind. RIP Cowboy. ? ? ✌
Condolences to all the families who have lost but will not forget a good man, Going to miss you Bill.

To your entire family, Cindy and I send our sincere condolences. Bill was a incredible man who was such FUN to be around. He made me laugh and want to be around him every chance I had. I remember being a child and my parents bringing us to Cold Springs to watch ball and the arena to watch Mercantile hockey ( We always watched Cowboy) I asked him “nervously” one time for help with a baseball bottle drive “Sure, when, 3 days from now”he gave me shit for short notice yet he & Gigs got me $700 lol. HE was awesome Our thoughts are with you all.

Out thoughts and prayers are with you and the family .

So sorry to read of Bills death. My first introduction to Bill was playing fastball at Victoria Park in the men’s league. It was never hard to tell when he was behind the plate. Barb was introduced to Bill when he was hired to do our house windows, which I never did quite right. It was a visit to look forward to each spring. Bill and his crew always left with Barb extremely happy about her squeaky clean windows, and Bill just as happy with a bag of fresh picked morel mushrooms. Sincere condolences to Bills family and friends. We will remember him whenever we cook up a feed of morels. Barb/Rob

I’m so very sorry for your loss. There aren’t enough words to explain his character, enthusiasm and love for everyone in this community. My heart breaks for all of you as I’m sure so many of us in this town does. Sending you love and strength at this time. I know “Cowboy” is already giving the big guy a run for his money and taking over and saying “Anybody in the house... one game!” And if there wasn’t already a shuffle board table up there, there is now. He was and will always be an icon to so many in our town. His love and generosity will never be forgotten or unspoken. ?
My condolences Aunt Judy. I’m sending my love to you all. I’m so sorry you’re without this wonderful man in your life’s anymore. The world is made a better place with people like Bill. Xoxo

As a kid his voice was the coolest most distinct memory from the ball park. Whenever Dad had a cold he loved to try to imitate good old Cowboy. I'm sure the two of them are already up to no good. Hold all your happy memories close to your hearts. Thinking of your family. - xo Kali.
