James Taylor

May 30, 1933 - December 22, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Taylor on Monday December 22, 2020. James, known to everyone as Jimmy, passed peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario.

Jimmy was born in Alexandria, Scotland (The Vale) May 30, 1933. He was the 9th child of 12 born to Margaret and Robert Taylor of Dunbartonshire, Scotland.

Jimmy grew up in the Renton with many childhood memories of Cordale. He attended Renton Public School.

After completing his studies, he entered into the British Army in 1951 serving with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He served in the Korean War, specifically in the Malayan Emergency from 1952-1953. He was also stationed in Hong Kong 1954-1955.

James emigrated to Canada in 1957, originally setting in Brantford, Ontario. He raised his children, April, Margaret and James in Pickering, Ontario.

He was a proud lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and an avid Pipe Band member for many years, attending Highland Games all over Ontario.

Jimmy’s retirement years were spent back in Brantford with family and friends.

He is survived by his sister Edith Cowper of Brantford and his brother Walter Taylor of Scotland. He will be missed by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and due to Covid, a Celebration of Life Service with close family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.
