Dear Marilyn Thinking of you.
Dear Marilyn, Stephanie, Matt and family - my thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Paul was a courageous warrior for any cause that fuelled his passion and I always admired him for that. I have fond memories of riding on the commuter train from Havelock to Union Station and of being your country neighbour in Pontypool. May his memory be a blessing and comfort. Love, Dawn

We have so many memories of our dear friend Paul (Pablo to Teri), from buying ukuleles in Hawaii to searching for veal scallopini in Portugal. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Marilyn, Stephanie, Matt, Diane, Suzanne and the entire family. Paul strived to make this world a better place, now it’s up to all of us who loved him to heed his wishes and do the same. We’ll miss you Pablo but we know you are watching over all of us. Love Teri & Blake
Dear Marilyn, Stephanie and Matthew What a wonderful picture of Paul you have chosen to share. It captures the twinkle in his eyes and his sense of humour. Paul was best man at our wedding in '72 and our first-born son's middle name is Paul in tribute. Our introduction to Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" and many other classic music recommendations came from Paul. After more kids and moving and work and life, we sadly lost touch, but we never lost that fondness and sense of closeness. He will be missed and may he rest in peace. Love Peter and Judy McCawley

My sincere condolences to you, Marilyn, and your family for the loss of your wonderful Paul. I worked with Paul for many years and he was always so supportive and dedicated - full of information, ideas and solutions. And he was such a great friend and colleague to so many of us at BMO, cheerful, kind and thoughtful. Thank you for the memories.
My thoughts are with you all! Paul was a great friend from way back at Loyola High and a really caring person. It is great that he was surrounded by his family and had the opportunity to send many of us a farwell message. May all of us listen to his message and do what we can for the world!

Marilyn, he tried so damn hard to make things better right to the end. You should be proud of him. I remember with great fondness how he helped calm Eddie over a glass of wine, the day he lost his driving license. He did this by reciting his own experience when he lost his and how it was not so bad because he had a driver - you! With love and fond memories Dilys
Our condolences go out to Paul's family and the condominium board on hearing this very sad news. Linda Bennett New Amherst Limited
I met Paul in 2016 when I joined the board of Northumberland 89.7 “Truly Local Radio Station”. A lively board where agenda items were often passionately debated, Paul was the “voice of reason.” He was eloquent, and could be counted on to provide balanced and thoughtful input. Through Paul I met and became good friends with his treasured wife Marilyn. Along with our other mutual friends, we enjoyed a number of good times together. I loved that he found some delight in our big dog, our red-hot chicken wings home cooked on “pub night”, and that we could debate US politics without too much emotion. Paul as taken far too early, but I know he left us with the same dignity he lived with. My heart goes out to Marilyn and his family. R.I.P. Paul, Jo-Anne Johnson
“Music Man” Paul, Thank you so much for bringing such joy into our lives! You will never be forgotten. Harry & Victoria Assinck

As I look back on my times with Paul, I am surprised when I remember how many different ways and times our paths crossed: - I met him when he ran for Deputy Mayor - Debra McCarthy and I went to his house for municipal financial coaching when Debra got in as Councillor - he got me into doing the radio news at 89.7 - he invited me to be the first woman to join their men's! group breakfast meeting at the Buttermilk. This ultimately led to the birth of the Cobourg Taxpayers Association - he and I were both involved in Preserve Our Heritage Harbour. I attended my first press conference and first protest because of Paul. - we had an impromptu Wedding Anniversary celebration for Paul and Marilyn on the rooftop of Jim's Pizza Palace in Cobourg as part of a CTA celebration - I even met him and Paul Whitehead for breakfast in Florida! Paul was stubborn - as am I! We had many heated discussions. They were always handled with the utmost respect. I am grateful to Paul who helped me to grow tremendously as a person. A small example is how I learned to handle the media by watching and listening to Paul do it so well, so warmly and so professionaly. It has been a privilege to be with Paul and Marilyn during Paul's end of life journey - to witness their candor, their grace, their positive outlook and their dignity. My heart is with Marilyn and her family as they continue on their grief journey. Love Lydia Smith
We are saddened by the death of Paul. He was an extraordinary person who devoted his time and energy to help everyone that was willing to listen. His participation on our Condo Board will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the family.
