Peacefully at Ed’s House on Sunday October 4th in his 77th year, beloved husband of Elizabeth. Loving father to Craig and Susan (Rick Gendron) grandfather (Bompa) to Sarah Baird (Andrew) Aaron (deceased) Nicholas and Richard. Great grandfather (Bompa) to Oscar, Eddie and Isaac. Beloved Brother of Bevan (Sandi), sister Wendy Welsh (Ron) brothers-in-law Bev (Lillian), Trevor (deceased) Charlotte and Richard (Gloria deceased).
Don was a firefighter for 37 years, RCAF for 4 years, Oakville, Cobourg Fire Department for 32 years. At Don’s request a private family service will be held at Cobourg Union Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you to the VON, The St. Elizabeth Society, the caring staff at Ed’s House and Dr. Carson Kwok. In memoriam donations may be made to Ed’s House or to the Northumberland Hills Hospital.

We were sorry to hear of Don's passing. I have a lot of fond memories when I worked with Don at the Firehall. Don had a great sense of humour that I enjoyed while at work and a sense of calmness on the fireground that was nice to observe.Our deepest sympathy.

I spent many years in the Fire Service with Don at the Second Street Fire Hall and at the new Elgin Street facility we built in 1975. Don was a good man and a good captain who was very committed to his work. It was a privilege to serve with him. Our sincerest condolences to you all.

Dear Elizabeth and Family, I met Don through Haly and Ted Bevan. We would always have a great chat when our paths crossed. I would also see Don periodically around the Cobourg fire hall. What a friendly man with a terrific sense of humour. He knew so many people who will all miss him dearly. I was pleased he spent his last moments at Ed's House.
