Georgena Ruth Cole, at a 101 years young, was welcomed home by her heavenly Father on September 2nd, 2020. She was vibrant, gracious and loving to all who knew her. Her devotion to family and her firm belief in God supported her in all her struggles and triumphs.
Gena was an educator at heart. She spent 25 years as a missionary/teacher in Swaziland in Southern Africa with The Evangelical Alliance Mission and returned home to help her aging mother. She continued her mission focus all through her life with much faithfulness and volunteerism at her church, Fellowship Baptist Church Cobourg. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to talk, give, witness and pray faithfully for all. She is dearly missed by her large extended family, friends and many nieces and nephews.
Gena is survived by her sister Gwen Reimer (John) and sister-in-law Betty Cole. She was the beloved sister of the late Mildred Linton (Melville), and brothers Everett (Ferris) and Bruce Cole.
The life of Gena will be celebrated at a family service at FBC on September 9th, 2020. Interment is at the Bible Christian Cemetery, Plainville. Gena requested that any donations be made to the Gideons International. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Golden Plough for their attentive care.
My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gina. I knew her from Fellowship Baptist and she was a kind and gentle lady. She will be missed by all that knew her.
My deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones.... I got to know Georgena through the choir at the Plough, and I enjoyed her genuine warmth, good nature and cheerful smile. She will be missed! (Rev.) Kristiane Black
Thank you Gena— for loving so deeply, praying for others so consistently and for sharing your faith so freely. For my entire life, I have looked up to you as an example of a godly woman. You always remembered to write me on my birthdays and at Christmas time, call to see how my children and I were doing and I know you thought about us often. Heaven is surely richer with you in it. You were loved and admired great Aunt Gena!
Our condolences. We knew Georgena for only a short time in South Africa, but know that she was a kind, giving and praying person. We have been sending her the South African prayer list each month and she appreciated this very much. She showed it by writing a note off and on even when it was difficult to write. She also sent money for the postage even when we said we didn't mind the expense as prayers are so important. When we were on the field, we appreciated the many senior and other people who said "we pray for you each day." Prayer is so important and a work that anyone can do at anytime in their lives. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you as you celebrate Gena's life here. Thank the Lord for Gena's faithfulness.
Gena was a quiet soft spoken woman of God. I first met Gena at Fellowship Baptst church and she always had time for you with a chat. She was inspirational in me joining Awana Clubs as a leader at the church in the early 1980's. The quote I always remember her telling me as a young man in regards to house cleaning was " Don't put it down, put it away " Thankyou Gena, this world was a better place with you here. May you rest in His arms as you have heard " Well done good and faithful servant "
Gena was a cousin of my mother, Muriel Cole Blezard. My sister and I visited her when we were in Ontario in 2003 and I had corresponded with her occasionally since then. She was an amazing woman who lived her faith. My condolences to the family.
Our most sincere condolences to the Cole Family, We meet this wonderful woman long time ago, and from the beginning, she was very special and excited to hear about each and everyone of us, and sharing her experiences when she was in Africa. She was an inspiration to many, a beautiful woman inside and out. We were amazed about her immense love for the Lord, and for been so caring and compasionate to everyone around her. We will remember her!
Our condolences to Gena's family and many friends. She will be missed.
Aunt Gena was just the sweetest lady and always had a smile on her face. Her energy, even very late into her life was inspiring. Such fond memories. Rest In Peace.
Gena was a very special lady. She was always kind to me and our family. We didn't see a lot of her but when we did it was like we had talked the day before. She was a wonderful example to try and live up to. The world will be lacking with her passing. I send my sincere sympathy to all the family.
Every time we visited Aunt Gena I was blown away by how well she kept up with all of the grandkids, even with the literal dozens of cousins and kids or cousins in the Cole family. She would always ask me how teaching was going and how my students were. Can’t believe how she kept up with all the grand-nieces and grand-nephews, but it was nice because I knew she always had a special place for me in her memory. She was such a strong Christian and I knew that she was always praying for me and the rest of us cousins. Heaven gained a sudoku master today, and we are all the poorer because of it. See you in Heaven, Aunt Gena
I am so sorry for your loss but can't imagine the joy that Gina must have experienced when she first saw her Saviour's face when He welcomed her home. My prayers are with you in your sadness as I know she will be greatly missed but what a blessing it must have been to know this woman of God and be part of her life and her witness. I wish I had known her better.
Sorry to hear about Gena, she was a wonderful lady.
We'll miss our daily phone calls that meant so much to us. After we had prayed, we would say "We Love you Aunty" and Lord willing we'll talk again tomorrow night. Now we'll see her in heaven. Bev & Marg Linton

Gena touched so many lives including myself and also my son, Adam. I will miss Gena’s love that she showed my son and I. But I rejoice that God has taken her home to glory. It was an honor to get to know her over the years. Her memory will live on. Whenever we talked on the phone, she always ended the conversation with the words, 'Bye, bye.' That really echoes in my ears right now. It just feels like another piece of my son, Adam's life is gone and it really breaks my heart. It is with great sadness but also joy because she is suffering no more and is with the Lord. I will now echo her famous words that she spoke to me so many times, 'Bye Bye' Gena my special friend. I LOVE YOU. Say Hi to my son, Adam in Heaven.
Gina will be deeply missed, we are very sad to hear of her passing. She was a wonderful lady and I am thankful to have had the opportunity over the last few years to get to know more and listen to all the adventures she has done in her life. She was great inspiration to the young women in the congregation.

Sincere condolences to Georgina's immediate and extended families. I finally met Gena at a school reunion on 2007 where she had once taught. Having heard such nice comments about her, it was a pleasure and an honour to finally chat with her. May the warmth and comfort of lovely memories somehow take the place of the sadness you feel now.
Gena demonstrated a strong faith in Jesus and a love for people. She was an encourager and a prayer warrior. We will miss her.

I’ve known Gina for a very long time and I am deeply sad that she has passed she used to take me to Awana And used to help me in Sunday school she will be sadly missed by her family and friends She is in the Lords hands now
To the entire family of Georgena Cole. All my love and sympathy on the loss such a beloved family member. As a young girl I attended Sunday School at the United Church in Gore's Landing. One Sunday we had a guest speaker, Miss Cole, who was about to leave on a mission trip to Africa. I was so impressed and excited for her. When she returned we had several long talks. She had the most beautiful smile. One could tell just by looking at her face that this was a good and spiritual woman. In later years she was an inspiration as I went on my own trip to Africa. I can just hear our Lord saying to her," Well done thou good and faithful servant."
I was saddened to read that Mrs Cole had passed away. I would always chat with her when I often went to the Golden Plough Sunday afternoon service on the fourth Sunday. I admired her faith and and know that she is in the presence of our Lord! Her family and friends will miss her greatly!
A wonderful lady deeply loved by all my family. Will miss her greatly.
