Mr. Perry was my favourite elementary school teacher. He taught our grade five class at Burnham School in Cobourg his first year of teaching and definitely had his hands full. Remember still his Music lessons and the way we learned to memorize the timetables. He made school fun and interesting. He inspired me to become a teacher and remember applying for a job after completing Teacher's College at his school. He did not have a position open but wrote a personal note to me in his letter of response. Guess one always remembers their first students.

Carol Patterson-Leclerc - August 4, 2020

It was a privilege to have known your dad/husband as a principal in my very first year of teaching and to have connected with his daughter in my last years. The man I knew was kind and interested in maintaining the feeling of family and caring for others in that country school. He has passed many good things on to his children and wife who are now Ron’s voice and hands, in his passing. May God bless those of you who are left behind as you grieve, and know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God loves you, as much as Ron, and rejoices in the possibility of joining you all together again some day.

Tom Davis and Marcee - August 4, 2020

Marcee, my wee Chihuahua, and I are saddened to see that Ron has passed. Ron and Marcee had a neat relationship and loved seeing each other whenever we went to Extendicare. I knew Ron in his working life. He had a well earned reputation within the old PCBE family as being a terrific educator and principal. His sparkling personality was his trademark throughout his life. He exemplified the joy of learning which all educators should aspire to doing. Well done Ron on a terrific trip through life.

I am truly sorry to read of Ron's passing. I used to drive to Peterborough every Friday after high school in the early '60s to chauffeur my sister, Heather Thomas, Ron and 2 others back to Cobourg after each week of Teachers' College. I still have fond memories of those four young teachers and those days driving with them down highway 28 every Friday after school.
