Lorne Bruce Lang

February 25, 1960 - May 14, 2020

Lorne passed away suddenly due to a heart attack at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Thursday, May 14, 2020 in his 61st year. Beloved husband of Teresa Lang (nee Teves) and dedicated loving father to his daughter Maria. Son of the late Donald and Marie Lang and dear brother of Donna Stewart (Rick), Bill Lang (Patricia), and Scott Lang (Lisa). Lorne will also be missed by Mark, Wanda, his nieces Erin, Cressanne, Heidi, Cindy and nephew Thomas. Lorne was a devoted father and husband who appreciated the simple pleasures in life. His favorite things to do were to spend time with family and friends and take Maria to her many activities. He also took special joy in returning to his roots and to life on the farm. If the current health crisis allows, a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to a charity of their own choice.

MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Betty and Peter Wilkinson - August 5, 2020

Teresa, Maria and Lang family. We are so very sorry for your sudden loss. Lorne was such a happy person and devoted husband and father. We were fortunate to be a part of many a family Sunday dinner followed by a rousing game of cards. Lorne was always there and provided endless stories that made us laugh. Teresa and Maria were a light inside him. Find comfort in all your memories and know that you are in our thoughts at this difficult time. Your friends and family will help you heal. Take good care, Betty and Pete

Juvy Ling - July 3, 2020

Lorne was such a good friend. The most memorable gratitude I have with Lorne and his family was during the ice storm in Port Hope and sorrounding areas years ago. Lorne invited me and Charlie to come over to his house to have a shower and something to eat. We had a lovely meal with Teresa and Maria, who was so small at that time. Power at that time was non- existent. Power lines were coated with ice. Lorne was generous, sociable, a good family man, loved his farm and used to take his party guests on hay rides. Rest in peace and say hi to my husband Charlie in heaven for me. You are a great loss to the filipino community in the area. Thank you for everything. You are missed by us.

Paul Simonsen - May 21, 2020

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Lorne’s passing. My memories of Lorne go back from early childhood to more recently at the Y pool having visits during swimming lessons for Maria and Morley. He was a very proud father and husband. I remember my mother and father being very happy when Lorne bought Oscar and Mary’s farm. They thought that it was a “good fit”. Dad always enjoyed Lorne’s humour, his ideas and his work ethic. In our teens we spent better part of a week camping on a windswept island island off whitefish falls in Georgian via the Waddell’s. While the fishing was good, I’ll never forget Lorne talking about how a person would go about farming such a piece of land. Maybe I wasn’t able to to pick up on his humour at the time. Our condolences to Teresa and Maria, Donna, Bill, Scott and the Lang families and friends. He was a pretty wonderful person.

Dear Donna, Bill and Scott and your families, and Teresa and Maria, I was so very saddened to learn of Lorne's sudden passing yesterday. Your family has always had a special place in my heart, and I grieve with you at the loss of a sibling, a husband and a daddy. I was so honoured to play for the wedding of Lorne and Teresa several years ago, and well remember Lorne's words to me at that time: "I've always wanted to be a father". His love for his new family was so precious to see at every turn, and the joy that Maria brought to him every day is to be cherished. With my love to all of you at this very difficult time.

So sorry for your loss.

Jane Blannin Bruleigh - May 16, 2020

Teresa and Maria - so sad to hear of your sudden tragic loss. Words are so inadequate to convey our comfort and care. Wanted to share our special memories of your wonderful sweet family. When Ross arrived to begin ministry at Rural Faith - Teresa you were pregnant with Maria. And Maria like us - your dad was an “older parent”. I remember your grandmother telling me she couldn’t believe that your dad was finally going to become a dad! But your dad shared that unique experience of older parents. We cherish our children who enter our lives when we were older than most parents - as an amazing gift that many of us never expected and we never take one moment for granted. I remember talking to your dad on many Sundays when you were a tiny baby and he always shared about you with such excitement and pride and love and devotion. At a time when so many of his family and friends were having their children graduate from school and get married and they were becoming grandparents your dad was changing diapers and parenting with so much joy. And he was such an involved dad. Watching you grow and learn. Taking you to so many different activities. When we moved away we stay connected thru Facebook and have watched your family grow and change. Ross loved your dance recital pictures the most - they reminded him of the many dance recitals he attended to watch Shai and Singshan dance. And second to that were your sweet puppies. Your dad was incredibly generous last year when our beloved chocolate lab passed away. He said that he knew how important a family dog was. And he offered us one of yours. We were so overwhelmed with this generosity and so sad that because of our move to an apartment we couldn’t welcome a new dog I know that you are both so heartbroken and so numb. We are giving thanks that you have so much support - wonderful huge Loving extended Family - helpful supportive neighbours that will be there with so much practical help and love. So we send you much love and virtual hugs. My online church community from Portage la Prairie will be praying for you tomorrow and beyond. With much love Jane Blannin Bruleigh
