Passed away peacefully after a sudden illness with family by her side at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario, at age 80. Nancy was the devoted mother of Tammy (Craig) and Laurie. Cherished Nani to Jennifer (Brydon), Tyler, Kari-Ann, and Corey (Sarah), and Great Nani to Ally, Skyler, Ryder, and Everleigh. Sister of the late Dale, Bud, the late Gerald, the late Ruth, and Paul. Pre-deceased by her parents, Clarke and Eva Thompson. Nancy was born and raised in Cobourg, and spent her career working in the public service for the Ministry of Transportation. Upon her retirement, Nancy relocated to Barrie to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her, and Nancy and her girls would frequently spend time together enjoying their mutual love of shopping, followed by dinner out on the town. She loved to socialize, cherished her friendships, and could always be depended on to keep in touch. Her family and friends will miss her sharp wit, giving nature, and listening ear. She was truly 1 in a million and we were all blessed to have had her in our lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In Nancy’s memory, donations may be made to the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
“In the end, she became more than what she expected. She became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end, she just simply changed directions and kept going.”
(R.M. Drake)
