MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Alan Redway PC QC - March 16, 2020

Although I didn.t know Mrs. Sigsworth personally, when I saw the notice of her passing it brought back many fond memories and I wanted to express my deepest sympathy to the Sigsworth family on her passing.I did know Eileen’s husband Oscar. He served as a city of Toronto Board of Education Trustee for many years along with Bill Lang and went on for many more years to serve as an Alderman in the old city Ward One in the heart of Riverdale where I broke my own political teeth knocking on doors for George Hees and Bob Macauley. Oscar was part of the Riverdale political elite that included not only Hees and Macauley but Ken Waters, George Hogan, Fred Beavis, Winnie Robinson and Lil Tomlinson to name only a few. Together they taught me what elections and real grass roots democracy are all about and for that I am eternally grateful. Oscar went on to work with Bernie Byers of Byers Towing which had the police towing contract at the time.I am certain that Eileen played a key part in Oscar’s career and kept the home fires burning at the same time as has my own wife Louise who was born and raised in Cobourg.Again my sincere sympathy to all the Sigsworth family and their friends with thanks for the part Eileen and Oscar played in making Canada a better place.Alan Redway PC QCformer Mayor of East Yorkformer member of Metro Council and Executive committeeformer Member of Parliament and cabinet Minister

Hi Suzanne and Joanne. I was your neighbour at 25 Galsworthy. The kid that bought your 67 Ford convertible around 1975 or 1976. Am sorry for your loss, but happy that you had your Mom for so long. My Mom passed in late 2018 at age 96. Nice that both ladies had long and full lives. With best wishes at this difficult time. Doug Poole
