Passed away peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, in his 90th year. Egon was born in 1930 in Wirballen, part of a Germanic community in Lithuania, to Albert and Berta Reinert. He was the first of three children. As a young boy, Egon experienced the hardships of the war years, including the displacement and separation of his family. Following the reunion of his family on New Year’s Eve 1949, the Reinerts began the process of emigration to Canada, arriving in 1951. A devoted son, Egon worked along with his parents and siblings to buy a family home in Toronto. It was in Toronto where he met his wife, Rosemarie Peterson, whom he married in 1961. In 1966, they relocated to Roseneath with their two young sons, Randy and Bernie. A year later, Rosie and Egon moved to a new home in Cobourg where they have lived happily since. Egon worked at Curtis Office Products in Cobourg until he retired when the company closed in 1994. A loving son, father, brother, and grandfather, Egon is survived by his cherished wife Rosie, their sons Randolf (Annette) and Bernard (Sally) and his beloved grandchildren Amy (Ryan) and Eric (Lindsay). Egon will be deeply missed by his siblings Alisa (Walter) Husen, Arno (Marion) Reinert, and their families, and by his brother-in-law Georg Peterson. A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital. Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com
