Quietly at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on Friday, July 26th after nearly a year long battle with breast cancer. For over 41 years the beloved wife of Walter Lewis. Loving mother of Erin Panepinto (Rob) and Sarah Smith (Steve). Doting grandmother of Rose and Lily Smith. Dear daughter of Gordon and Joan Pearce of Petherick’s Corners, and loved daughter-in-law of the late Fred and Helen Lewis of Roseneath. Sister of Wally (Connie), Terry, Teresa, Lorrie Pearce and Cathy Cotrona. Sister-in-law of Leonard Lewis. Proud aunt to her nieces, nephews and great-niece and nephews. Friend to many. Teacher to some. Deb loved being creative. After years of various forms of expression, she found herself teaching folk art and then quilting. We returned from vacation yesterday to see the sad news about Debbie. We are truly saddened to hear of the loss of such an amazing woman. She was so important in the young years of our girls, Natasha and Erica loved “their Debbie”. We left our girls with her because we knew she was so much more than a caretaker for our girls , she loved them . With the help of Walter Erin and Sarah they treated our girls like family. That is why we drove back to acton for over a year when we moved away for daycare , cause we knew “their Debbie “ loved them and they we part of the family. We still have crafts on our tree that every year we tell them it’s from Debbie and the chairs that were made by her are kept for when they have children.Debbie and your family became a very import part of the early years of our girls lives and I know helped stitch the fabric that made them who they are today. We will continue to hang her crafts each year and say a little prayer for her . Sorry for the tremendous loss to your family , we want you to know how special she was to us .Love From Kim Rob Natasha and Erica McDonald

My sincere condolences to Walter, Erin and Sara, I lost all touch with Deb years ago but felt that our friendship was genuine. I learned home canning, quilting and crafts and our children had regular play dates when all young. I am very saddened to learn of Deb’s passing. Big hugs to the family and know that she will be watching her family from up above. God needed her to tend his garden because beautiful flowers and souls needed rest and his loving hand. Be at peace, feel her love until you meet again.
Dear Walter and family,I was saddened to read of your loss. Debbie was always a pleasure to talk with when I met her at the Hobby Horse and on various occasions around town. My deepest condolence to you all.Elaine

So sorry for your loss. Debbi was so lovely and kind and will be missed. I remember her being so patient and encouraging with her students and her relaxed personality put them at ease. She was so delightful to work with during the 9 years we had the store. I am not as eloquent as Ruth, but I wish you strength in the coming days, and hope the beautiful memories you have will give you comfort. Hugs, Brenda

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of your Debra. It's been a very long time since Debra lived in Cold Springs along with her parents and her siblings. We used to get visits from the sisters to eat the ducks eggs at my parents farm (June and late Bruce Sandercock). We hope the great memories and laughter you all shared will help to bring a smile through the tears. Knowing that heaven got another angel to watch over each and everyone of you and that though she's gone, she'll always be with each of you. From June and Shirley Sandercock of Cobourg and Donna Sandercock of Port Hope.
Walter I'm so sorry to hear of this. Bob Gibson let me know. I hope you can take some small comfort in the fact that there are old friends out there somewhere who are thinking of you and your family and are concerned for your terrible loss.
