Peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Monday, July 15th, 2019, Bill Crowley at 81 years of age. Prior to retirement Bill worked for many years as a meteorologist for the Federal Government. He was an avid photographer and was the founder and lifetime member of the Northumberland Photography Club, the Cobourg Photo 55 Group, and many other clubs and organizations. He was also a member of the Willow Beach Field Naturalists and the Northumberland Land Trust. He will be sadly missed by his many associates and friends. Following cremation a Reception/Celebration of Life will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King St. E., in Cobourg from 2 pm to 4 pm on Thursday, July 25th. The photo club you were such a part of will not be the same with out you
Bill was not only the founder but also an inspiration to everyone in our photography club. I had coffee with Bill several times and even visited his home twice. I don't know what he loved more: flowers or photography. Happily, he became an expert in both. We'll all miss him.
Bill was such an interesting fellow and he had a great sense of mischief. He will be missed for all the knowledge he had and shared so generously. I am thankful for the opportunity of having met Bill through the Northumberland Photo Club. Rest in Peace
I have been missing Bill this past year. He would often stand and report sightings at our OSFN meetings n Owen Sound - I got to know him better when I was President of Owen Sound Field Naturalists - he often telephoned me prior to meetings and on one or two occasions we met for a coffee on Thursday afternoon. He had planned to do a presentation at Members Night a year ago, but there was a glitch in retrieving his treasure trove of photographs and he had to withdraw. In addition to his background as a meteorologist, I learned that he had been a champion runner at high school (in Winnipeg, I believe). When I didn't hear from him in recent months I thought that perhaps he was calling our current President Gord. Yes, Bill was an extra special member of OSFN, and I am glad I got to spend a little time with him even on the telephone, and for coffee.

Bill was a constant presence at meetings of Ontario Nature and Ontario Field Botanists. His passion for the outdoors was infectious and he will be sadly missed.
Bill cared deeply about nature and people. Throughout the years that I knew him, I was impressed by how completely he devoted his time and attention to helping the two connect. His contributions to many organizations will be missed. I'm very glad to have known and worked with him.
Goodbye to my crusty,crotchety old friend of 23 years! We had some great field trips together. I learned from you.
