Toronto District Fire Chief (North York). Retired with 33 years of service in 2009. Alan suffered a stroke on Saturday February 16th and was air lifted by Orange to Kingston General Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the doctors and I.C.U. nurses, Alan could not be saved. Alan passed peacefully on Friday March 8th, at 7:07 pm., with his wife of 51years, Linda and his son Jay by his bedside. Al will be very much missed by his friends and neighbours in Cobourg. Al was cremated with no service as per his wishes. If desired donations may be made to Kingston General Hospital Foundation. A celebration of Al’s life will be held in Cobourg at a later date. The world has lost a wonderful man. Alan was a great husband and father and will be missed.Our thoughts are with Linda and Jason at this sad time.
I have many fond memories of Al. He was one of my Captains when I first transferred in to Prevention at 1530 Markham Road. He was a joy to work with.I am so sorry for your loss.Mike GaigerRetired

So sorry to hear of Al's passing. We didn't know him for very long but truly enjoyed skating with him in Cobourg. He will be missed by all the skaters.
