Clive Edmund Goodwin

March 28, 1929 - August 16, 2018

Passed away peacefully at Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the age of 89 with his dear wife Joy at his side. He is survived by wife Joy Goodwin (Gelder), nieces and nephews; Elaine DeJong, Gary Nixon, Vicki Lewis, Grant Nixon, Pam Passmore and Corinne Sabourin. Clive was born in Leeds, Yorkshire England, graduating from the University of Toronto in 1962. He became an avid bird watcher at a very young age and grew to be a leader in Ornithology and Nature Conservation. He spent eighteen years as editor of “North American Birds”, Ontario Section and submitted many articles to various publications. Clive has five major book publications to his credit along with receiving many awards in 1976, 1977, 2010, and 2014. In 2014, Clive received the “Ontario Field of Ornithologists -  Distinguished Ornithology Award”. Clive and his wife Joy led many bird and nature excursions worldwide. As an educator, Clive instilled in others the excitement of bird-finding and freely shared his knowledge. Uncle Clive, we thank you for leaving us a scholarly legacy of love and respect for nature.
