Trudy Frankruyter

April 23, 1923 - March 5, 2018

Died peacefully on Monday March 5th at her home after an extensive time bravely struggling with her health issues.  She was 94.  Trudy was born on April 29th, 1923 in Leens, the Netherlands to her parents Wilem and Janna Walsma as their second youngest child of seven.  She married the tall Fred Frankruyter on April 23, 1952 and immigrated to Canada that same year and eventually settled on a farm in Streetsville, Ontario and after 12 years moved to Richmond Hill and then in 1989 she and Fred retired and relocated to Cobourg.  She and Fred did many trips across Canada, USA and also to the Netherlands.  Her signature laugh was known to all who met her.  A woman who kept behind the scenes but for those who knew her intimately her wonderful wit and charm was so appealing.  She was a homemaker, hospitable host who loved to bake, cook knit and play games.  She was known to all her children and grandchildren to knit warm woolen socks and slippers for them all.  Her delicious meatball soup and homemade pies willed be missed.  She was predeceased by her husband, Fred, and all of her immediate family members.  She is survived by her children, Janet, Loreen (Ed), John (Lynda) and Grace, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren whom she dearly loved.  In the past years she was wonderfully supported by her church community, her loving neighbours, the health care support from St. Elizabeth and the paramedics who on many occasions came to assist along with the kind medical staff at the Northumberland Hills Hospital from the emergency room to all the other floors where she had been a patient in the past, and to the caring staff at Cobourg Pharmacy.  In addition, many thanks for the diligent care provided by her family physician, Dr. J. Paul Caldwell.  Due to some family circumstances, Trudy was privately buried along side her husband on Thursday March 8th. An invitation goes out to all who knew her to join in at her Celebration of Life service which will be held at the Grace Christian Reformed Church, 440 King Street East, Cobourg on Saturday April 7, 2018.  Condolence will be held from 1-2 pm., followed by a Celebration of Life service from 2-4 pm followed by a reception.  In lieu of flowers, financial contributions can be made out to the Northumberland Christian School.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
