Peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital, in her hundredth year, predeceased by her husband Laurence McArdle and her siblings Betty Harrison, Jean Garissere and Marjorie Forester-Paton; her parents were Jacques Garissere and Edna Brown of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. Joan will be sadly missed by her son Ian McArdle (Pam), her grand-daughters Lauren McArdle-Bailey (Morgan) and Lizzie McArdle (Dan), her much adored great-grandson Lochlan McArdle-Bailey, her niece Barbara Cressman and her nephew Gerald Harrison. Known for her bravery driving a Red Cross ambulance in war-torn Britain during WWII, her passion for all animals, in particular horses, and her years of dedication to Save the Children (Canada), Joan is best remembered as a passionate, loving, accomplished woman who inspired all who had the good fortune to know her. Special heartfelt appreciation to Joan’s dedicated private care team and the staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital. A Celebration of Her Life will be held in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre 30 King St. E., Cobourg, on December 2, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Donations to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
