Don peacefully passed away at the Golden Plough Lodge on Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at the age of 79 years from a heart attack, after a long battle with dementia/Alzheimers. Born October 9th, 1937 in Toronto (Scarborough) ON. Parents (deceased) are Annie Ruth Murray (nee Handy) and Michael Joseph (Micky) Murray. Loving husband of Joyce Murray (Miller-Clarke) and her son Steven Clarke. Father of Dawna Kellijian (Aram), Chris Murray and John Cook, and grandfather of Matthew, Michael (Kayla), Claire and Marie . Lovingly remembered by his sister Patricia Stamp (Rick) and her family Wayne Stamp (Sharon), Pam Clark, Lisa Jackson (Wayne); his brother John Murray (deceased) and his family Ken, Kim (Guy), Bev (Dan) and Cindy. Missed by his fave cousin Gina Mackey and brother Randy Pitts. Remembered by many family members of Murray and Handy, aunts, uncles and cousins. Brother-in-law of Jim Miller and his family Karen Hallett-Miller (Simon) and Joanna Miller, grand nephews Jo-Jak, Jago and Jed Hallett-Miller all in England. Don was a 30 year employee with the Town of Cobourg‘s Engineering Dept. (Draftsman), retired 1997. He was a passionate musician, sang with electric guitar (2 bands, fave “The Cabillaros” 70’s-80’s), DJ, had a great sense of humour and enjoyed car trips, boating, dancing, cooking chilis and stews, crosswords and war documentaries. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life musical gathering on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 from 1-3 pm. at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 11 King St. W., Colborne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Northumberland Humane Society.
