Formerly of Toronto, passed away peacefully, on October 7, 2016 at the age of 83 while at the Northumberland Hills Hospital. He was the son of Gertrude Mitchell and Ernest Shipley from Toronto. Lovingly missed by daughters Sandra Taunt (David), Jacqueline Shipley (Tim), grandaughter Audrey Taunt. He is survived by his devoted sisters, Doreen Britton (Chuck), Joyce Turner (David). Jack started his career as a salesman in the food brokerage industry. His success, drive, creative and entrepreneurial skills led him to his ultimate passion, construction. Jack founded Shipley Construction in the early 1970s. His projects were very diverse, ranging from commercial to home renovations and they kept him busy throughout his entire life. Jack’s crowning achievement was the transformation he made on his Heritage Home in Stouffville. It’s no secret he took great pride in a job well done. He was an avid flyer and took great pleasure taking friends and family for rides in his Cessna and later his beautiful Beechcraft Bonanza. Jack’s charisma made it easy for him to make conversation with anyone. At home in the kitchen, he was known for his wonderful gourmet meals and discerning taste. Pursuant to Jack’s wishes and his love of life, there will be no funeral but he asked that you raise a toast in his honour the next time you are enjoying a great meal and time with friends and family.
