Gerald Patrick Gatien

In his 86th year, Gerry passed away at home on Wednesday, July 13, 2016,with family by his side. He will be forever missed by his wife Bernadette (nee Lawless) of 52 years, sons Edward (Debbie), James (Tina) and Martin, daughters Chantal, Ghyslaine, and Monique. Grandchildren Brandon, Dakota, Pearce and Margo, Tristin, Darcy, Dante and Aaliyah, Kelly, Charlotte and Emily and many nieces and nephews. Proudly raised in Copper Cliff ON, Gerry was predeceased by his parents (Omer and Alice Gatien) and brothers and sisters Fr. Leonard, Rudy, Beatrice, Sr. Laura (IBVM), Edward, Sr. Annette (St. Joseph's). Gerry was a model train enthusiast, hockey fan, lover of his dogs, enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. Gerry's laugh and whimsical sense of humour will never be forgotten. A true jack of all trades, he was the "go to guy" whenever his children and friends needed a more clever perspective to the problem they faced. Sincere thank you to Dr. Paul Caldwell for his many years of care. Dr. Moorsom, Dr. Krishnan and Dr. Hartlieb and all the nurses at NHH who attended to Dad on so many occasions. Thanks to St. Elizabeth Health Care for their outstanding dedication and care. Their help allowed us to keep Dad comfortable and at home. Sincere thank you to Fr. David West for his many visits, prayers and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Elizabeth Health Care or Northumberland Big Brothers Big Sisters would be appreciated.
