To know Joan was to know someone who was a friend, a confidant, a help, a counsellor, and a patient, tender and loving person. Joan was a multi-talented individual who used all of her gifts and creativity in the service of her Lord Jesus Christ. Music was so important to Joan. Her musical talent was used as a pianist, organist, soloist, singing in duets, trios, quartets, and she especially loved singing in choirs. She worked with children in Sunday School, Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School as a worker, teacher and superintendent. Joan worked with ladies in group work, committees, decorating, food, and for several years as leader of Ladies Missionary Programs. She was great at crafts and all kinds of hand work – preparing materials for teaching children, needlecraft, quilting, sewing and knitting. The work she did in sewing and knitting for children in Africa and her work in teaching so many children over 60 years of service has had an impact on so many children’s lives. Joan loved her Saviour and enjoyed her opportunities to serve Him by exercising the talents and gifts He had given her. She will be missed by her family, her alumni friends, her acquaintances and fellow servants in many churches. God has so blessed us with her presence in our lives. Joan was a great wife, a devoted mother and grandmother. She was committed to David and the Lord’s call on their lives. Her approach was ‘”Where God calls David I will go.” That involved living in Canada and the U.S; in 8 different cities, as David served in 3 schools and 3 churches.
