Roger Edward Bannister

February 18, 1938 - September 15, 2015

We are sad to announce the passing of Roger at the age of 77 years.  Roger was born in Norwich Norfolk England and came to Canada on the 27th of June 1949.  He married in 1957 to Glynda (Gay) Norman and they celebrated 58 wonderful and sometimes stormy, but always exciting and interesting years.  Roger was a well known auctioneer who provided free auctions for various churches and charities.  He was known for his great sense of humour and putting people at ease the first time they met him.  He loved cards and was a threat at poker.  He was also an Oddfellow with the Durham Lodge 78.  Roger was a volunteer fire fighter on the Bewdley Fire Department for 22 years. He was a fundraiser for the Bewdley Arena.  He was a loving father to Peter (Carolina), Tracy (the late Dale Robertson) and Philip (Janet).  He was a kind and adoring grandfather to 11 grandchildren, Janelle, Jessica, Christine, Jennifer, Melissa, Brittany, Valerie, Brent, Mikyla and Marina, and the late Jacob.  He was a G.G. to Alex, Michael, and Farah.  He leaves behind two sisters Vera (Basil Day), and Jean Smith.  He will be sadly missed by all and will always be remembered in our hearts with love and a smile.  Friends are welcome to visit with Roger’s family at the Oddfellows Hall, 412 Victoria Street, Cobourg on Saturday September 19, 2015 from 1 to 4 pm.  Memorial donations may be made to Camp Bucko, a summer camp for kids.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com.
